Doug and I flew KC-10s together back in the 32 AREFS days at Barksdale, and he always impressed me with his kindness and dedication. He was a wonderful squadron mate and loved by all. Lee Ann, Ryan, and Courtney - my sincerest, heartfelt condolences on your loss. I hope your special memories of him bring you peace.

Our sincerest condolences to the family.  My husband and I didn't know Doug personally but we worked with his dad Ernie. When I think of Ernie I recall all the times that we worked side by side and the main topic of conversation would be about his children and how proud he was of them.  
Our prayers for strength for all of  you during this very difficult time in your lives.

Doug and I go back to my very first Air Force assignment at Barksdale AFB in 1991 where I was the ONLY non-flying officer in the 32nd Air Refueling Squadron (32nd AREFS back then).  Despite the career differences, Doug made me feel as though I we're just as much a part of the squadron and that my contributions and support were valuable and appreciated.  He and I saw each other here and there over the course of our careers and I was very happy to catch up with him here at MacDill AFB/CENTCOM.  Doug even assisted with the hiring process for my first job after I retired from the Air Force in 2015.  We chatted often and both bragged about each other's families.  It was always evident that he was a very happy and proud family man.  I will miss his presence here very much.  Leigh, Courtney and Ryan, may God bless you all and I'm certain Doug will be lovingly watching over you from above.

I  played high school football with Doug he was  are starting center on our undefeated state championship team we were 12-0  in 79/80  Doug's senior year. He was a leader on one of the best teams the state of Kansas has ever seen. Obviously those leadership qualities and skills he had as a high school kid continued to grow and elevate him to the great man he is today. This is not a surprise that Doug has reached these great achievements and accolades , he was driven from the start a natural born leader who was definitely fearless then as well as has been through his outstanding career. My condolences go out to Doug's family and friends, it  has brought joy and peace to me to read the wonderful  memories about him, his career and his wonderful Family.

I was about to retire from the Army and somehow got stuck in a section at Central Command that I knew nothing about. Many people taught me the ropes, but none with more patience and understanding than Doug. He always greeted me with a smile and helped me any way he could. He was probably one of the nicest guys I ever met. If nothing else, we could always talk about Gators football. He was and always will be respected and missed by me.

Doug, 

As being a great friend of his son Ryan, Doug always treated me as a son. There have been key moments in my life that could have taken me down the wrong path, but thanks to Doug and our countless hours of sitting on his back patio talking about life, goals, family, sports,  he has taught me to always do the right thing. I can not thank him for that.  Doug has always accepted me as son. I can't even count the number of times I have shared Thanksgiving & Christmas dinner with Doug and his family. Doug would always have the biggest smile on his faces as he would prepare dinner. The thing that I loved the most about Doug is the open relationship I have always had with him. I could always ask or tell him anything, and he would sit there a listen to me for hours and hours. Doug would also give me great advice when I would ask him tough questions about life. Doug was always so caring he made me feel so comfortable in the most difficult time in my life. The thing everyone loves about Doug is how much he cared for others. I thank Doug for the time he has spent with me.  Doug is one of the few people that has seen me progressive as a kid, teenager, and adult. The last time I saw Doug was Christmas Dinner 2017. It was Lee Ann, Ryan, Doug, and I  it was the best dinner I ever had with Doug, I believe it was the first time he saw me in adulthood, and Doug couldn't have been more proud of me of the man that I have become. It was an honor to receive those kind words from Doug and to see how proud he was.

In a work environment driven by "strong emotions", Doug was the consummate professional and always willing to listen and help. I will truly miss my trips to FDO and getting to interact with him on a daily basis. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family during this trying time. 


 I had the pleasure of working with Doug  in Air Force Special Operations and we were hired together as Air Force One Presidential Advance Agents.  Doug was a "straight shooting", jovial man who was a pleasure to work with professionally and spend time with personally.  Never once heard a complaint and was always one to step up when his country or his brothers/sisters in arms needed him.  An American patriot and hero lost way too soon. He just recently asked to try my homemade maple syrup my wife and I are making in retirement.  A special bottle will be set aside and dedicated to Doug.  My sincere condolences to Lee Ann, Ryan, Courney and the entire Tauscher family.

I had the pleasure to work with Doug here at Centcom, and get to know him for the past 4 years. There have been a few people I wish I knew longer, and he was one of them. Being an AF veteran, we had that in common, but it was much more. I never saw him in anything close to a bad mood; he was always one of those people you were glad to see everyday. All the best to his wife, and adored children

There are not enough words in the dictionary to describe this great man.  Rest in Peace my friend.

Absolute shock and sorrow is the only way to describe how Jeff and I feel at the news of Doug's untimely passing. We remember many good times with Doug's humor and optimistic outlook on life.  Our hearts are heavy for LeAnn and the kids and our prayers will be lifted asking for strength and support during this very sad time. Doug is once again above the clouds, and maybe even with Speedbrake, running through the fields happy and carefree.

I am in such shock over Doug's passing.  I first met Doug in 2013 and he was such an incredible man with an infectious spirit for live.  I will say that Doug would entertain us with his pilot "war stories," most of which had us laughing hysterically and a bit jealous of his adventures.  Doug was a dedicated husband, father, and friend to all and his caring spirit will be missed.   My heart goes out to his sweet wife LeAnn and their loving children during this time of immense sorrow and heartache.  But we all have to remember that Doug is in a much better place with our Lord and Savior.  And none of us could ask for a better guardian angel.  May you rest in internal peace my friend.  You were loved more than you know and will be missed by all.

This is incredibly unfortunate to hear.  Doug was an excellent human being and a true professional.  I've enjoyed working with him on various projects for many years.

He will be missed deeply.

My Deepest sympathy to Doug's Wife, children and family.  I worked  with Doug for as many years as he was in Foreign Disclosure. He was a sincere, good man and always had a kind and gentle demeanor. I could always trust him to have patience with my endless questions.  Even though we worked in different offices, we worked in the same row for a couple of years, and that's when I really got to know Doug as a great person. He always had a smile when he greeted you, no matter what was going on.  Both being leads for our teams that worked closely together, I would continually seek his advice about personnel issues, family, etc. He was a true professional whom was missed when he left FDO, and now he'll be missed even more.  May the great memories you have fill the emptiness and sorrow you are feeling.  God Speed 

The  wife and I are very sorry for your loss and will miss him dearly.  Doug was always there for you and had a kind word for everyone.  To you Leann, Courtney and Ryan, we pray for you and continue to keep you in our thoughts.
