

Ed was born on October 14, 1936 in Federalsburg, MD to Marshall and Lois Stoffle. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1958 in Economics. He met Esther, his wife to be in Philadelphia, PA. He worked at the Bendix Corporation in the accounting department in New Jersey until 1964 then they moved to Vienna, VA. His changed jobs to become an auditor at Central Charge in Washington DC where he would walk 1 mile to his office for 17.5 years to park for free. He then became the Comptroller at Navy Federal Credit Union for the next 16 years until he retired. He worked for Democracy Federal Credit Union and then served on the board until 2017. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1982 determined to be licensed before his daughters. While working at Central Charge he had a side gig with H&R Block where he earned his name as “Fast Eddie” since he was the fastest and most accurate preparer in the office. After 4 years there he left and started his own tax business for the next 50 years. He was known for his ability to remember dates and work with numbers. Ed was competitive since a child and loved sports and games (Bridge). His favorite sport was tennis which he played with friends and family into his 60s. If he wasn’t playing a sport, he was an avid spectator of baseball (Orioles) and football (Ravens). Ed would say the most important accomplishment in his life was finding God in his 70s.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Lois Stoffle and brother, William and adopted sister, Doris. He is survived by his wife, Esther of 64 years. His daughters, Julie Harrington (Doug) of Millersville, MD, Karen Palmucci (Jim) of Fairfax, VA, Susan Wagner (Rob) of Chantilly, VA, Deanna and Melissa Stoffle of West Palm Beach, FL as well as six grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
