My condolences to the family. I had the opportunity  to Teach his boys, Gerell was a wonderful , caring and loving Dad to them both. I’m sure he’ll be missed. May the lord continue to bless the boys and keep the covered.

I remember when I first met Perrington at the job.  After introducing myself and finding out he was a fellow NYr, we instantly started talking about everything .  I quickly found out how much he adored and loved his sons and  I truly admired him for all the  time  he put into teaching and raising them.  Perrington was a good friend as well as someone to share your thoughts with.  There were a many nights at work where we would talk and laugh so much that  we just got silly.  He was  genuine  and he always spoke truth.   I always looked forward to seeing him when his shift allowed him to be at my work area.  I deeply miss my friend.  My heart and  prayers go out to his sons and family.   Rest in Power Perrington!  #BrooklyNY  

Wow, what a loss! It’s not everyday that you meet someone and have an instant connection with them. When I first met  P that’s how it was with us. He was the kind of person who would genuinely give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. He had the type of laugh that was so funny that I would laugh just because I’m hearing him laugh. Anytime there was something serious going on he knew just what to say to make you laugh and take your mind off of things.  He was also one  of the few people outside of my family that I would turn to if I needed to talk about something. He was brutally honest and would always tell me what  was on his mind and not what I wanted to hear. P was a tremendous father to his boys and great friend who I will miss a ton. R.I.P.  



Gerrell (G) was one of my best friends, so much so that I referred and looked to him as an older brother and would address him as big bro occasionally. We met in college and was tight ever since. I have so many memories about G so it’s hard to pinpoint just one but what I will say is that G was someone you could always go to for support regardless of what you were going through and he was also someone that held no punches when it came letting you know if you was on one at the moment 😂. I’m truly going to miss his kind spirit and his infectious laugh. He was one of the strongest person I’ve ever had the privilege of calling a friend and a big bro. RIP

It is with deep sorrow to suddenly lose a friend, and past co-worker to such an untimely demise. I pray the LORD JESUS CHRIST will comfort you through this time and heal all sorrow. May Gerell Perrington be remembered for his infectious laughter and his warm personality. P  as I called him and he called me was a friendly, generous, and respected Officer. I could always go to him for advice and just talk to him about anything. He was the motivation on Delta shift to make everyone happy and joyful with his humor. He loved his kids and spent quality time with them in golf, weight lifting, and academics. He made sure they were  taken care of. He always sent texts on holidays and kept in touch. We have a similar background from NY and kids and we helped each other. I will miss him as a fellow Officer and brother. Rest in power.

Perrington, I had the honor of being your supervisor for nine years. You were a pleasure to work with and I swear you always knew how to make me laugh even if I was having a bad day. I am definitely going to miss you sitting in your specific "seat" at roll call because you definitely had a favorite spot that everyone knew not to sit there. I remember the football trash we use to talk I will still think of you as a commander's fan (in my head I converted you over) even though I know you really were a Giants fan. You were always a selfless kind of guy who has helped numerous people on Delta shift.  Just last year I had an injury and was required to take the alternate fitness test. You showed up on that day even though you did not have to, and you cheered me and Ofc. Kendall on and threw us water, and clapped, and told us to hurry up lol! You also were an officer I could count on when a serious incident was happening on shift. If Ofc. Perrington was there I knew things were being done correctly and I did not have to worry about a thing. I am going to truly miss you Perrington! 

I am so fortunate that I had the privilege to know you and work with you over the past 10 years. You are one of the funniest people I have ever met, and ALWAYS came with the quickness on jokes and jabs. Many of us often had a "blah" day coming in to work, but you had the ability to turn it around and make the nights fun and enjoyable. I truly believe Delta shift is much closer as a direct result of that. You had the perfect balance of being the comedian of the group, but when things happened, you effortlessly transitioned to a professional; using your experience and knowledge to act. I know many of us looked up to you, and your lessons, jokes, talks will be forever cherished. You will be forever missed, thank you for all of the great times that we had both together, and with Delta shift.  

Yo P! That is what I say to you every time we speak. I cannot believe you are gone bro. I remember you and the boys helped me move and snacks (your oldest son) dropped the couch pillow on the ground, and you said, "Boy you better not!" Me and you laughed about that.  P  you will be missed from the bottom of my heart my brother I hope that this pain will soon pass as I remember you as a great dad, close friend and a true person that always looked out when I needed help. You are defiantly one of good ones!  My brother forever! NY pride, son that is how we do!    

Perrington, I know I've only been your brother, friend, and fellow NYG/NYY fan for about 2.5 years, but you made that time memorable. Your laugh and attitude during Rolle Call will be unfortunately missed, but you will ALWAYS be there in spirit. Delta Shift and your family lost a great man. From the day he started working nights until our last conversation last Tuesday night, he was my friend and brother. His laugh was one of a kind, and the heart and soul of the shift he worked. He will be sorely missed.  

This has been a really hard few days and I just wanted to give my deepest condolences to the family And I wanted to thank you for sharing such an amazing human being And I can honestly say I learned so much from him it was times he was my brother my father and my friend. He possesed  such a rare compassion for people and It makes it even more painful to have lost such a luminous human being As hard as it will be going forward I feel truly honored and I feel so loved by God to have had him as a  friend and a God father to my children.

Perrington, it still feels unreal! You were my best friend and someone I could always talk to. You invented our intervention night while working on post. We never had a problem we could talk about! Sometimes I sit and wait for our group message to go off just to hear the joke of the day! May you rest in peace. I’ll always cherish our memories. You will never be forgotten! I love you big dawg! 

I met Gerell when I was 19 and in the Navy. He and I became instant friends and over the years we only grew closer. He always sent the sweetest birthday messages. And our conversations mainly involved me saying crazy stuff and him laughing. Here I am 42 years old and nothing about him changed. He was always genuine, always honest, never disrespectful and he loved me as genuinely as a friend can love one another. And I shared the same sentiment. My kids called him uncle and though we didn’t see each other often, our friendship never faded. He was my peace when my world was a wreck. His text messages always came through right on time. I have been an emotional wreck since that text came through. And at the most random times, I hear your laugh and just break down crying. My life will definitely never be the same. I pray that what they say about not remembering each other in Heaven isn’t true, bc I know he made it in! And I pray I do too! Bc I would give anything to see him again and hear his laugh and hear him say….”you buggin”. I will never forget the friend, the father, the person and man he was! I will ALWAYS love you Gerell! RIP my friend! You are missed dearly

Good Ole Geofus, Chief,G,PB&J. All names of affection. I only knew GP for 2 yrs but it felt like a knew him for lifetimes. He was a man of honor, integrity, character, power. The list goes on. He was selfless but always quick to crack a joke on you 😄. Amazing leader and father of the year. He was his sons' biggest fan. An artist, a creator, a confidant-- a chef! A visionary and true inspiration.  A Protector to MANY. We will mourn you Gerell,  but we know emperors don't live forever-- their legacy and what they stood for will. I salute you always,  Chief Perrington.

Perrington whom I called P was my brother and friend. He and I always talked trash to each other all the time. His love for his son's was  unmatched ,they were his world. P had integrity and honor about him and I loved and respected him for that. This, I was not ready for he will be missed. Delta Shift...One team one fight we got all night.  Rest in peace

I met Gee while working at the Reagan National Airport.  We became friends and had lasting closeness ever since. Being we had a lot of common factors. We both helmed from up north(I'm from Jersey). We enjoyed each other's company when we were able to connect. I was there when he decided to make the full jump into a police career. And of all things undercover to start out. That took its toll on me always worrying about him. But he was a character and strong it didn't phase him. I will miss Buttah love you forever. I last talk to him a couple weeks ago, he said "he'd holla at me on my bday(2/24)" and though the message wasn't what I was expecting he still kept his word. I will always be connected to you in many ways one most importantly because my son is named after you (Maurell); because you were there when I needed you, I named him after you. Thank you! My deepest condolences to the Perrington family. Butta has been one of my best friends for the past 23 years. One thing about Butta that I will always remember his strong work ethic and the love he had for his kids. Thank you for you for the fun times, the laughs and the memories you left us with.
