

On February 8, 2018, Jim Glassford, beloved husband of Joyce K. Glassford for 58 years, went home to be with the Lord. He was the loving father of four children, James C. Glassford, Jr., Genia D. Wortman, Debra G. Kraftchak (Tim), and Anthony P. Glassford (Kennette), and the adored “Pap Pap” to 10 grand-children and 10 great grand-children.
Jim was born and raised in Summit Point, WV, to Simoney and Mollie Glassford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four brothers Allen, John, Donald, George, and two sisters, Jeanette Fleming and Christine Miller.
Jim was a World War II veteran in the U.S. Navy before retiring as a YNC after 22 years of service. He later worked for the Federal Government for 10 years and also enjoyed his time driving a school bus for Fairfax County Public Schools for many years. He was a long-time fan of the Washington Redskins, The Price is Right, and could be found on the golf-course well into his 80’s. He was proudly a dedicated member of Capital Baptist Church for over 40 years.
His family and friends will remember his impeccable storytelling abilities, his quick-wit, and his fighting warrior spirit.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life. Viewing is on Tuesday, February 13, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA 22151. A funeral service will be held the following morning, February 14, at Capital Baptist Church, 3504 Gallows Road, Annandale, VA 22003. Viewing is at 10 a.m. and the service will begin promptly at 11 a.m. Reception to follow at Capital Baptist Church.
