John Eric Hug

Eric was born on May 23, 1963 to Kathy and Jack Hug of Omaha, Nebraska. He was the oldest of three brothers – Eric, Greg and David.

Eric had received his undergraduate in Chemical Engineering from the University of California at Davis and his Ph.D in Chemical Engineering at the University of Illinois. He worked in the industry at Borax and International Paper; and then as a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

He is survived by his wife GiGi, his father Jack, his brother David and his wife Jeehye, his sister-in-law Becky and his nephew August and niece Lilly, Aunt Kathy and her husband Gerald, Uncle Jerry and his wife Ann, Aunt Doris, and many cousins.

He is remembered by both family and friends for his kind heart, his love of running, and his dry sense of humor.

He will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life will be held on June 8th, at 11:00 AM at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA 22151.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Maryland Zoo or the National Zoo would be appreciated.
