Of Springfield, VA, on March 24, 2018 at the age of 90. Beloved husband of 69 years to the late Elizabeth Patricia McDonald; father of Elizabeth S. (Michael) Draggich, John B. (Mary T.) McDonald, Jr., Patrick J. (Joan E.) McDonald, Michael W. McDonald, and Thomas A. (Donna R.) McDonald; grandfather of Charlotte, Christopher, Heather, Matthew, Andrea, Casey, Tammie, Timothy, and Shannon; and great-grandfather of 7.
John proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II from 1945-46. He taught at the Benjamin Franklin University in Washington, DC, worked for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and ended his career with HHS.
Friends welcome on Wednesday, April 4 from 6-8 pm at Demaine Funeral Home, Springfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 5 at 10:30 am at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, Falls Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Washington, DC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation in John’s memory to Gonzaga College High School in Washington, DC.
