Of Alexandria, on June 18, at the age of 91. Beloved son of the late John and Louise Windhorst Stephan; dear father of Claudia Stephan (George) Braden and John D. (DonnaJo) Stephan; and caring grandfather of Patrick and Francesca Braden. John was a proud member of the Professional Engineer’s Society. He acquired his undergraduate degree from the Pratt Institute and Master’s Degrees from Columbia and Drexel Universities. He spent his early career with Atlantic Refining and from there would go on to a distinguished 30 year career with the Federal Government. Friends are welcome at the Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, on Sunday, June 22 from 4-6 pm. A graveside service with military honors will be held at the Parklawn Cemetery, Rockville, on Monday, June 23, beginning at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in John’s memory to Disabled American Veterans.
