

Joy E. Brineman of Springfield, VA passed away on Thursday September 17, 2015. She was born on February 5, 1927 in Saint Joseph Co., Indiana, to John Russell and Irene Schalliol Ehret. Joy graduated from LaGrange High School in 1945 and attended college for three years. She was married to Clement Seymour Brineman on June 6, 1948 in LaGrange, Indiana. She enjoyed traveling and lived in Tokyo, Singapore, and New Delhi, as well as Boston, MA. Joy retired from FDIC in 2003 after a career of 30 years of government service. She was preceded in death by her husband Clem and four brothers.
Joy is survived by her sister Joyce Stahl, daughter and son-in-law Kathryn and Tony Bovill, son and daughter-in-law John Brineman and Sandra Chai, daughter and son-in-law Ann and Richard Braun, grandchildren Andrew and Riana Bovill, Jocelyn Sweeney, Jennifer Pearman, Matt Braun, Colin, Samuel, and Nora Brineman, and five great-grandchildren, Ada, Anlyn, Jack, Annabelle, and Layla.
Friends will be received on Friday September 25 from 3:00-5:00 and from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Rd., Springfield, VA. A funeral service will be held on Saturday September 26 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 5800 Backlick Rd., Springfield, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Joy’s memory to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church or St. Mark’s Quilters.
