Lillian Adelle Carney

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother died on May 10, 2015. She was born in 1924 in Pansey, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Col. John Kilker Carney. Her life as a military spouse took her and her family to the Philippines, South America, Trinidad and Springfield, VA where the family moved in 1960. She was the owner of Adelle’s Uniform Boutique in Springfield, VA for over 25 years, taking pride in the services she and her staff provided to her customers. Adelle joined her husband at The Fairfax at Belvoir Woods retirement community in 2011.

Survivors include six children, Constance Bedell of Springfield, VA, Bernadine O’Hare and Deborah Fowler, of Centreville, VA, Cathrine Carney of Parkersburg, WV, Daniel Carney of Alpharetta, GA., and Patrick Carney of Haymarket, VA; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Irell Mixon of Columbus, GA, Martha Carlisle of Dothan , AL and Mary Deyhle of Albuquerque, NM.

Family will receive friends on Friday, May 15 from 10:00 a.m. until noon followed by a service at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield VA 22151.
