After a long battle with Alzheimer ’s disease Lou is finally at rest. His survivors include his wife of 40 years, Sandy; children, Jason and Katie; siblings, Frankie (deceased), Karen Giuliani, Annie Harman, Joey (deceased), John, Steve, Chrisse Woods, and Tim Currey. His father, football hall of famer Frank Gatski and his mother, Ida May Currey both precede him in death. Lou graduated from West Virginia University before completing OCS training and joining the Navy. He later graduated from the Marine Corps War College at Quantico. He served 26 years and retired from the Navy as a Commander. As a civilian he went on to work for Strategic Insight and Oak Management. Lou was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, hiking, and running. A memorial service will be held at Demaine Funeral Home in Springfield, VA, Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 2 PM.
