

Mr. Louis "Lou" Robert Wilson Rudolph, of Annandale, VA, born December 25, 1928 in Washington, DC, to the late F. Lee Rudolph and the late Corrie F. Rudolph, passed away at age 90 on March 26, 2019 at his home in Annandale.
Lou attended Gonzaga High School, and then graduated from Catholic University with a degree in Electronic Engineering. Lou served as a 1st Lt. in the US Air Force with the 55th Wing during the Korean War. He then went to work for FAA, and the Naval Research Lab, retiring after 32 years. He holds several patents under his name. In addition to a love of electronics, Lou was an aviation enthusiast, and enjoyed flying planes. In his retirement, Lou truly enjoyed the seniors softball, and working with the US Geological Survey (USGS). Lou was a history and genealogy buff, as well. Lou was a life member of the SAR and the IEEE. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church for the last 60 years.
Lou is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Shirley Rudolph. He will also be greatly missed by his sons, Robert Rudolph (Jeanne), James Rudolph (Susan), Thomas Rudolph (Kelly), William Rudolph (Linh), and Steven Rudolph (Sylvia); daughters, Gail Anderson (James), Susan Melton (Scott), and Barbara Butler; 12 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Friends and family members may attend the visitation on Thursday, April 4 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, Virginia, 22151. The visitation will be followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, VA. A reception will follow at the family home.
