

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many passed away on December 29, 2021. Born August 2, 1941 at Columbia Hospital for Women, Washington D.C., Lucie was the second of Lucy and Herbert Ford’s five children, Weldon, Hannah, Ellen, and Herb.
A lifelong Washingtonian, Lucie was a graduate of Immaculata Preparatory School and Georgetown Visitation Junior College. She was a decades-long parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Springfield, VA. During her long service at the parish, Lucie was a Eucharistic minister and a secretary at the St. Bernadette School from 1989 - 2005. Lucie had a charismatic personality and joie de vivre that she shared with everyone she touched. Lucie was an avid gardener.
She loved all things French and visited France often, sharing her love of Paris with a revolving cast of family and friends who joined her there.
She is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 50 years, Jim, daughter Jeanne and son-in-law Jason, son James and daughter-in-law Amanda, and cherished grandchildren Katelin, Natalie, and Austin.
A funeral will take place at St. Bernadette Church in Springfield, VA on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 11:30 a.m., followed by interment at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Alexandria, VA. A reception will not be held at this time due to covid concerns. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities USA at www.catholiccharities.us/lucieklapps.
