Marion and her husband Robert retired from Wayland, MA to Lake Monticello, Palmyra, VA in 1995. Robert passed away in 1998, but Marion stayed on at the Lake, developing many close and dear friends and enjoying the vibrant culture of the area. After 19 wonderful years there, she moved to Greenspring in 2014.
Marion graduated from the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing in 1950, where she worked until 1958. She left to raise her three children, but returned to the nursing field as a Nurse Practitioner in the early 1970’s, pioneering this new position in health care. Marion was a lifelong Red Sox fan, avid bridge player and a social golfer. She loved to travel, eat good food and had a fondness for French Impressionist art.
She is survived by her three children Carolyn and her husband Erik Johnson, Robert and his wife Andrea, Michael and his wife Christine, and two grandchildren, Collin and Lauren.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, September 16th at 11:00 a.m. at the Greenspring Chapel, 7420 Spring Village Drive, Springfield, VA.
Donations in her name can be made to the American Heart Association.
