I am so shocked, sorry and saddened to learn of Patty's demise.  I am one of those professionals "on the other side of the fence", meaning that I have submitted many. many development plans to Prince William County over the past 39 years for various clients, and during all that time, Patty is the one public servant who I could count on to actually advise me of what I can and cannot do to get approval for a project, always keeping in mind the protection of the Chesapeake Bay.  She was unwavering in doing the right thing, and uncanny in her common sense approach to problems and conflicts.  She is the exemplary professional; she was cordial, friendly,  was a credit to Prince William County, and will be greatly missed.

We were taken aback, and deeply saddened to hear of Patty's death.  She was in every sense a true professional and public servant, and a genuinely good and nice person.  As an environmental engineer working with Prince William County we all knew that she was genuine in her desire to see good things happen in Prince William County to protect the environment and to clean up the Chesapeake Bay.  All of us trusted Patty to give us the straight facts and to be always helpful.  She never disappointed us!  In fact, Patty conducted a work session with us in January of 2012 to help us better understand the sub-watersheds above the Historic Town of Occoquan.  With her assistance, we were able to craft a focused and technically accurate letter to our Occoquan Magisterial District Supervisor requesting a study of the sub-watersheds above the historic Town of Occoquan.

As President of the Lake Ridge-Occoquan-Coles Civic Association (LOCCA), I wish to extend our orgaiizations' simpathy to the Dietz family for the passing of a truly wonderful, caring person, solid professional. and devoted public servant.  

There is so much to say that is wondeful about Patty.  We will truly miss her grace, her smile, her honesty,integrity, and presence here on this blessed  earth and in Prince William County.  We are somewhat consoled to know that she is at peace and in a better place.

Patty and I met our Freshman year at University of Delaware. We both lived on the 3rd floor of Kent hall. We became good friends and roomed off campus Junior year. Patty was always the smart and sophisticated girl in the room. She had a heart of gold. When she started dating a "Navy" boy from Annapolis we were so jealous but knew they were so much in love. I'm so glad we reconnected this summer. I miss her so much.
