Richard John Delewski

He is survived by his sister, Dolores Schramm of Houston, TX, his loving companion, Nancy Odend’hal, his children Richard (Cathie) Delewski, Patty (Geoff) Hall, Karen Woods, Jean Delewski (Robert Round), Dolores (Keith) Rhinehart, Gina Hudgins (Tony Krier) and David Delewski, and his ex-wife, Eileen Delewski (nee Murphy). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

He led a full and active life as a U.S. Government employee working around the world in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Richard relished his life-long love of gardening and could provide the Latin names for the plants he grew there. During more than 30 years of retirement, he was an active learner pursuing diverse interests ranging from philosophy to cooking to history to music to science to politics.

Memorial visitation will be at Demaine Funeral Home (Springfield, VA) from 6-8 pm on Friday, March 21. A mass celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 22 at Queen of Apostles Catholic Church (Alexandria, VA). Inurnment at Arlington National Cemetery will be private.
