

Ruperta F. Kayanan (Age 93)
Went to heaven on Monday, October 8, 2012, from her home in Springfield, VA with her children and grandchildren by her side. Born Ruperta Ilustre Francisco in Batangas City, Philippines, on June 15, 1919, she married Corsine Cruz Kayanan and was his wife for 54 years until Corsine’s death in 1999. She was educated as a teacher, and with her love of music, learning, and her devotion to the Roman Catholic faith, she raised her children in the Philippines, Japan, Thailand and various cities in the United States as a faithful Army wife. Her children include Daniel Nicholas (surviving spouse Emma Garibay, grandchildren Alexis, Carla, and Eric, and great grandchild, Benjamin), Paul Raymond (spouse Petronella), Jocelyn Marie (surviving grandchildren Jewelanna, Angelica, and John), Maurice III (grandchildren Alan, Cynthia, and Daniel), Leslie Francis (spouse Pamela Jo, grandchildren Juliet and Christine), and Carol Kay (spouse Robert Padgett, grandchildren Corrine and Randall). Arrangements are pending for a burial with her beloved husband in Arlington National Cemetery, while visitation will be held at the Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road in Springfield VA between 4-8 PM on Friday, October 12, 2012. Memories and the Rosary will be shared 7-8 PM. Mass will be celebrated at the St. Raymond of Penafort Catholic Church, 8750 Pohick Rd, in Springfield, VA at 11 AM on Saturday, October 13, 2012.
