Bill was born August 9, 1937, in Florence, Alabama, a son of James Edward and Sylvia Melton, nee Handley. He is also survived by children Michael D.(Karen), Melton, Patrica D. (Larry) Meadors, Phyllis Melton, and step-sons Tony Funderburg and Billy Funderburg; a brother Eddie (Michele) Melton, sisters Teresia (Tom) Bardol and Janice (Harold) Redden, sisters-in-law Vivian and Linda Melton; grandchildren Chad, Michael J. Nikki, Amber, Bradley, Krystle, Jordan, Thomas and Abby; and great-grandchildren Madisyn, Caitlyn, Emilie, Allie, Cheston, Cody, Laine, Blake, Colton and Kenzie, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Allen and Donald Melton , sister and brother-in-law Peggy and Joe Ragan and a sister Sue Schuermann.
A funeral service for Bill will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday May 15, 2012, at Alexander-White-Mullen Funeral Home, 11101 St. Charles Rock Road, St. Ann, Mo. 63074. Entombment will follow at Lake Charles Memorial Park, 7775 St. Charles Rock Road, Overland, Mo. 63114.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday May 14.
