Katie Woods

Kathy (Katie) Woods died peacefully at home on May 17, 2011 surrounded by her children and grandchildren, following a brief illness. The youngest of eight, Katie was born in Stradone, County Cavan, Ireland on June 23, 1924. She, her husband Michael, and two children immigrated to the United States in June of 1955. Katie is survived by her three children: Brenda Woods-Ewing of Northampton, MA, Bobbie Seibold of Maryland Heights, MO and Ronnie Woods of St. Peter’s, MO, as well as three grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews both in the U.S. and across the globe. Katie’s journey from a small Irish farm to middle class life in suburban St. Louis was built on hard work and frugality -- an embodiment of the American Dream. She worked for years as a tailor for upscale men’s clothing stores and was well regarded for her skill and artistry. In her later years, Katie was active in her Bridge Club, senior citizen’s social group and in her parish, St. John Bosco. A beloved mother, grandmother, and friend -- she will be missed.

Memorial mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2011 at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, 12934 Marine Ave., St. Louis, MO 63146.
