Jimmy was born in Detroit Michigan on December 21, 1970. After Jimmy graduated from Lake Shore High School in 1989, he joined the United States Navy where he was Honorably Discharged after his four years of service including his active duty war service in Desert Storm. Upon completion of his service to his country, he went on to further his education and became a Master Electrician Journeyman Lineman. He was always very dedicated to his career and loved climbing the poles and being a self-professed "Lamp Lighter". Jimmy was always the guy with the biggest heart. He had a larger than life personality and gave the biggest bear hugs (whether you liked it or not). His love of life, children, animals and the forever faithful Fighting Irish Notre Dame Saturday afternoon football will be never forgotten. Jimmy could also strike up the music with his harmonica playing. Could walk into any bar, in any town and join the band that was playing, and fit in like he had been playing with them forever.
He is preceded in death by his brother Jay James McAlister.
Jimmy leaves behind his loving family, his wife Irene, his two sons, Brennan James and Ryan Jay, his sister Margaret (John) Cypoth, his parents Sam and Gayle McAlister his nephew Nicholas Caine, his stepson Steve Thayer, stepdaughter Carrie (Bill) Moody and two grandchildren Cortney and Jacob.
