Beloved husband to Joan for 51 years. Devoted father to Amanda (Eric) Papiez, John (Jessica) Salter, Rebecca (Colin) Paul, and the late Timothy Lesko. Adored grandfather to Krystle, Timothy (Madison), Katelyn ( Brandon), Joseph, Olivia, Alizabeth (Anthony), John, Jackson, Juliana, Emma, Luke, and Lily. Great grandfather to baby Elsesser due October 2025.
John resided most of his life in St. Clair Shores. John Graduated from East Detroit High School then went into the Marines. John was stationed in Japan for a few years before returning home to St. Clair Shores. John trained to be a firefighter for Highland Park for many years and then went through the police academy and was a public safety officer for Highland Park for many more years. After retiring from Highland Park, John worked for Grosse Pointe Woods DPW pump station. John was a working man that truly never retired.
John loved boating, hanging out with his neighbors, being a member of the Amvets Post 121, and cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren. John was greeted by everyone with open arms when he walked into a room. Everyone that knew John loved John. John made friends with everyone. John will be missed by many.
