LaVerne May Maricak

LaVerne May (Keenan) Maricak, age 94, of Harrison Township, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 15, 2026. She was born on February 10, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, to Edward Michael and Mary Margaret (Myers) Keenan. On September 18, 1976, she married Michael Maricak. They were married for 42 years until his death in 2020.

She was the loving mother of Michelle Higel, Jacquelyn (Gerry) Pytel, Ken (Cherie) Harp, and John (Karen) Maricak. Dearest grandmother of Ron (Judi), Jason (Alexis), Kyle (Catherine), Jeremy, Kelly, Kevin, and Dawn (Fred). Great-grandmother of Jessica, Alissa, Stella, Scarlett, Molly, Calvin, Alice, and Preston. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; her brother, James Keenan; and her sisters, Wanda Woelkers and Elayne Kelly.

She was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and Moose International. She was employed for over 20 years and retired from Kroger in the meat department, never missing a union meeting. She was an avid casino-goer and loved to play the lottery. She also loved to travel. Family and friends were very important to her, and she was loved by many.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Michigan, Leader Dogs for the Blind, or The Salvation Army.

A memorial visitation will be held on February 23, 2026, from 11:00 am until time of service at 12:30 pm at Kaul Funeral Home, located at 28433 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores, Michigan, 48081.
