Margaret Ann Ihnen (Engel) is predeceased by her mother, Patricia, father George, and brother Walter. She is survived by her sister Janet (Jerry), her daughters, Melody (Gregor), and Michelle (Timothy) and grandchildren James, Anthony, and Daniel.
Maggie was born in Foley AL, and spent her young life on a large farm near Summerdale. She attended grade school in Summerdale, and attended Foley High School, graduating in 1957. Upon graduation, she worked as a cashier at the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Foley. She married Marvin on November 15th, 1959 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Foley. In the fall of 1961, they moved to Auburn AL, where Maggie worked as a teller at the Auburn Bank. In December of 1965 Maggie and Marv moved to Mt. Clemens MI, and had 2 daughters. Maggie was a stay at home mother for her girls until they graduated from high school. She then started her new career at Hudson’s Department Store, in the drapery and bedding department. Maggie was known and often recognized for her excellent customer service and her “bag popping” skills, to the point where Maggie received a “21 bag popping salute” upon her retirement in the fall of 2000. She was devoted to her grandchildren and spent the early years of her retirement caring for them.
Maggie was a lifelong member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Clinton Twp. MI. She regularly attended services, sang in the Senior Choir, and was an active member of the Women’s Guild, including serving as treasurer. She served on many committees, and was honored as St Luke Lutheran’s “Woman of the Year” in 2013.
