I’m truly sorry for the loss of your father. I have so many fond memories of your dad. He never complained at least that I know of! That he basically inherited 2 extra kids from the time he got married to your mom myself and Shannon. I still remember going out on the boat with him on weekends which he loved the water. He actually was a good cook and accused me of drinking all the pop often. When I think of your dad I smile because I see how he looked at all of you, his best gift ever! Love you. Jen 

Thankful to be able to attend both Andrea’s and Lauren’s wedding these past couple of  years giving me a chance to spend some time with my Uncle Rick.  He was so happy for his girls and we so enjoyed celebrating these occasions with him and the family.

My favorite memory of your dad is when Emerson was born. I stopped by and visited... your dad was outside trying to fix the weed eater. When I was leaving he asked for directions to Lowe’s hardware. He needed to fix that weed eater right then! I had him follow me to Lowe’s. He was such a wonderful man. He always made me feel welcomed when he was visiting. Hugs to the family.

As I had moved away from the St. Clair Shores area I had not much contact with Rick over the past 5 years. But our friendship lasted a good part of our lives-over 40 years. I met Rick through my cousin Francis in the mid 70s and Rick moved into a 3 family flat on Chalmers where we all lived. It was kind of a "animal house". There was a bar right across the street and you could usually find someone there including  all the new friends that we made.
Not long after Rick would marry Nancy and after a short stint living
nearby in a rental house they moved to Barton street. I was a frequent guest in their house and spent many holidays and occasions with them. Saw the family grow from 2 to 5. I was honored by being chosen as Godfather to Lauren who really was a special twin.  A very smooth calm child. 
Rick and I loved to fish and early on we would go out in his Formula speedboat to the St Clair Light and perch fish. Even Nancy would come and bring Andrea who was in a baby carrier at that time. Later we would go in my boat as he had sold his.
A funny story that happened in August of 2003 was there was a major power failure that affected a large area from Michigan to the east coast. We were without power for 5 days, and I had Bob and his son and stepson visiting from California and staying with me. It was hot and humid and we learned that Ricks area would be one of the first areas in the Shores to go back on line.
So we all went over to Ricks and it was broadcast that residents were to slowly bring electrical use back on. We walked in on Rick and he had the pool going, the central air conditioning, the dishwasher and was doing a load of laundry! I reminded him that he was not following the procedures and he said "screw that" that was typical Rick. 
I am proud that he was my friend, that I shared life with his family and I will truly miss him. Good bye my friend I loved you.

        Our hearts and thoughts  are With you during these trying times.  I know Rick appreciated all the love and caring from his family.  Let us just remember the good times with a smile on our faces.

My sincerest sympathy to Rick's family.  I was fortunate to spend a lot of fun times with Rick as a room mate. Chalmers House was our "animal house".  I was also honored to be the best man at his wedding. Those memories and many more will always be with me.

I remember when our son, Tom, went to Rick to ask for Lauren’s hand in marriage right before Tom actually proposed. Rick turned into putty, breaking down in front of Tom... he was losing his baby girl! But Rick was so happy because he knew Tom would take care of her.
 Rick told me Lauren was his little buddy, always getting up at the crack of dawn (when she was very little ) to have breakfast with her Daddy before he would leave for work and now here she was getting married.
Sometimes parents don’t realize how special and beautiful their kids are; how strong and dedicated their children will be for them when the roles of parent and child may be reversed.  Lauren, you leave us in awe as we have witnessed your dedicated care for your father in this long journey of his illness. You are an amazing daughter and daughter-in-law, a loving wife and adoring Momma to Caleb.  We are so sorry for the loss of your father.  We love you and are here for you, always.
