Dick lived a long and wonderful life filled with great accomplishment, the love of family and a wide circle of friends. Born in 1931, in Worcester, MA, he was the youngest of three children raised by Roderick and Marion (nee Jensen) Hall. Dick would often talk about the years of his youth where he learned the value of hard work, the importance of family and his love of the great outdoors. Dick’s family camp in Washington, NH held special memories as it was during this time that Dick’s spirit of adventure blossomed and stayed with him for his entire life. Dick graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. He was a standout basketball player and later in his life was inducted into his high school’s Hall of Fame as an outstanding scholar athlete. After college, Dick proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged and Richard left his beloved New England roots and moved to Buffalo, NY to work as an engineer at Buffalo Forge. There he met and married his wife, Phyllis (nee Merkl) and started their family. They relocated to Detroit for a job at Coon-Devisser Company and he soon was made partner in the company. He was an outstanding engineer and salesman. He mentored many young employees who still revere him. Dick was a warm, gregarious man with many friends. He was a ‘Jack of all trades’ and could fix almost anything. Dick enjoyed golf in the summer, skiing in the winter and tinkering around at the cottage in Waters, MI. He was a member of Otsego Ski Club in Gaylord, MI and was a proud member of the Gaylord Elks. Dick and Phyllis loved travelling to Acapulco for the sun. He enjoyed Bridge and all other card games, especially Poker with his grandkids.
