Shirley J. Swieczkowski, age 79, passed away November 15, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late Dennis. Loving mother of Joe, Dyanne (Paul) Willems, and Mike (Jennifer); dear grandmother of Olivia, Scarlett, and Henry. Shirley is also survived my many loving family members and close friends.
Shirley was passionate about politics and gave freely of her time to support the people and causes important to her. She believed in serving those who needed it the most and supported many local organizations trying to make the world a better place. As a former English teacher, Shirley was an avid reader, who also loved movies and jigsaw puzzles. She was a true fan of the Detroit Red Wings and a season ticket holder for many years. When it came to travel, from a simple road trip to a weeks-long journey, she was always on-board. Above all, Shirley was the world’s greatest cheerleader for her grandkids, rarely missing a game, performance, or school event.
Donations in Shirley’s name can be made to the DIA, NPR, Turning Point, and The Salvation Army.
Arrangements under the direction of Kaul Funeral Home, St. Clair Shores.
Shirley’s children plan to host a celebration of life in the spring/summer of 2021.
