When I was just a boy and met my Auntie Joan and Uncle Tommy for the first time, I remember thinking how weird it was to have just met someone and feel like I totally knew her. Years later as an adult, on a cross-Canada trip with friends, Charlaine and I stayed with Auntie Joan in Deux- Montagnes and that same feeling of comfort and familiarity came back immediately. Even though I was born and raised in Edmonton, talking to Auntie Joan always felt like coming home and I know that for my mom, and Uncle Arnie, George and Jim she was always the foundation of who they were as a family. 

Tommy and Terry: We are so sorry for your profound loss and hope you and your families are keeping well in this time of grief. Your mom was a special person and her kindness and unwavering support were the pillars of my mom’s life and helped shape who my sister and I became. Our thoughts are with you all.

Terry, Tommy and your families, 

Dave and I each have so many separate memories over the years of your mom, too
many to mention but what stands out is her kindness, her little laugh, her quiet boldness, her love for her family, friends and community. It was a privilege to have her in my life as a friend thru you all and then as a neighbor, there was many talks over tea on my balcony in the evenings, her wisdom for a simple life stays with me. I had the privilege of working with Joan from 1990-1994when she was a lunch hour supervisor at Mountainview Elementary School. She was an asset to our staff very punctual, always ready to help, a soft spoken lady with a genuine fondness for kids that resulted in making my job as Principal an easier task! My sincere condolences,and those of my wife Anne Martin, are sent to her family, the many friends she leaves behind and may she rest in peace. She remains in my mind as an exceptionally kind and sincere human being.🙏🕯️

A wonderful Mother Aunt and Grandmother. She will be greatly missed . She now is resting with the great love of her life Uncle Tommy .

Well u will be missed inalot of ways. When I use to do ur snow and of course it was a reasonable  hour you would wave from ur window and give me the thumbs up when I did a good job.  I remember going to my brother in laws  Tom. Murphy and see you out doing things and going for your walks and stop to talk to me when I was on 8 ave  those where the days.   Happy trails. I fond memories of her yelling at Terry and David LaRose for riding that BMX ramp on 6th Avenue.  I remember her cleaning me up when I took a nasty spill trying to do what Terry could.  😆 🤣 😂
