Il laisse dans le deuil sa conjointe Luce, son fils Jules (Maude), son père Normand, son frère Louis (Mélissa), sa sœur Élise, la mère de son fils Chantal, son grand ami Mahamane (Fatoumata), ses enfants de cœur - Marc-André (Catherine), Marie-Pierre et Anna (Alhousseyni), sa petite-fille Norah, sa nièce Alice - ainsi que de nombreux amis, collègues, étudiants et patients, au Québec et au Mali.
L’engagement et la responsabilité sociale ont marqué la vie de François. Comme médecin de famille, il a pratiqué la périnatalité et pris soin de personnes vivant avec une dépendance aux opioïdes. Professeur à l’Université de Sherbrooke, François a inspiré ses étudiants et collègues par son humanisme et sa compassion. Par son implication dans le développement des soins de santé primaire au Mali, il a laissé un héritage pérenne poursuivi par ses collègues maliens et québécois.
Les proches accueilleront parents et amis le vendredi 5 août de 9 h à 11 h 30 à la Résidence funéraire Collins Clarke MacGillivray White, Réseau Dignité, située au 307, promenade Riverside à Saint-Lambert, QC. Une courte cérémonie d’adieu à François suivra.
