I was so proud when I first saw your name on the plaque outside your office. You did it, you achieved your dream.

We were about the same age and he was my first real full-time doctor. He helped me through some big procedures and was always patient with my questions. He seemed like a very respectful person and was a good doctor.   It’s been stressful looking for a new doctor and it still hurts that he’s gone. I pray that your family can heal and your son will know his dad was a wonderful doctor.

Dr. Lanis. You were my first “long haul” doctor. I was with you since the very beginning in the old office. Dr. Lanis was an Excellent Doctor, he would spend so much time with me at appointments and somehow also was almost always very close to on time. One of the very best doctors I’ll probably ever have had. I am truly saddened about this loss. Dr. Lanis was the best physician, I had been with him right when he joined Mercy. I’m having a very difficult time finding a PCP of any where near the provider he was. He always listened, and even when I had a dental procedure done he made sure I had something for my anxiety. The world has loss an amazing Dr, friend, and family member. It didn’t have to come to this, my heart goes out to his family.

Dr Lanis was a wonderful doctor.  I was and still am saddened to know he is gone. I will not get over his death. So unnecessary. May he RIP.

My husband and I met Dr Lanis just before he got his own practice and were so impressed by how brilliant he was and made you feel like you were lifelong friends.     We were his first patients when he got his own practice.   I believe he was the best doctor we have ever had in our 7 decades of life.   He was just down to earth and made you feel comfortable, even when he was yelling at you for eating too much lol!   He loved his son and loved showing us his pictures when we came for our appointments.   His face lit up with pride.    We truly hope his son will know what a great dad he had and how much he was loved.     You are missed Dr Lanis, may you rest in peace.

Alex is my best friend, has been since 1998. I could not have asked for a better friend than him. My heart aches and I miss him very much. I feel so much comfort reading all these wonderful memories. The epitome and greatness of Alex was his open heart and generosity.  A true good man in every way, he will be missed by many.

Dr. Lanis was my primary care physician and we had the best relationship a Dr and patient could have. He had been my doctor for over 10 years and every time he came in I’d say what’s up doc then bow my head in shame because that’s the most obvious dad joke there is. I remember when he wanted me to lose some weight and he gave me some diet plans. I said “Are you trying to starve me?” He replied “I’m trying to save your life, I don’t get paid if I don’t have patients” That’s still very funny to me. 

The absolute best doctor ever. He was the reason I kept coming back. He saved my life even though I never experienced any life threatening illnesses and that was because of him. He will be dearly missed and remembered.

My most sincere condolences to Dr Lanis's family. He was my primary care doctor for several years; always very attentive, patient & caring. In 2022 I experienced several traumatic losses within a very short time frame. I met with him monthly for a while trying to cope with the aftermath that was impacting my mental & physical health. He did video appts at the drop of a dime when I needed  him. He was very crucial in getting me the care & mental resources I needed. He always was attentive and listened without rushing me out of his office. He really was the best doctor I ever had. My heart broke when I heard this news. My thoughts & continued prayers are with all of his loved ones. The world was a better place with him in it.

Alex was my brother and forever will be. Reading these posts makes me realize how great of a person he was not only to me but to so many others. It will never be the same now, but somehow these words make it easier. Thank you

Please accept my condolences on the untimely death of Dr. Lanis.   He was my physician and he provided excellent care to me.   He was not only knowledgeable, but he listened,   This elderly lady is saddened and Dr. Lanis will be missed not only by myself, but by others whose care he provided.

Aleks was a friend and medical colleague.  I've known him about 10 years.  We'd hang out every few weeks with mutual friends.  He had a great sense of humor, was playful, zany, offbeat, and had so many creative interests such as writing, gaming, and music.  

Dr. Aleks was a talented physician, and I can tell because I too am one.  When you've worked in the field, you can tell the better ones-the ones that care, did the extra work, and double checked.  I referred my patients to him.  I knew they would get good care.  In 2024 he was rated as one of the best physicians in Saint Louis.

I hope his son grows up to know that his father touched so many lives for the better.   I am still shocked that someone so young, so talented, and needed by his loved ones left us.

I was very saddened when I heard about the death of Dr. Lanis. 
He was my Primary Physician for about 6 years.
He always showed compassion, knowledge, and 
interest in my issues. 
He brought me through some rough times. Dr. Lanis told me during many visits that I had a good chance to recover. And he was right! 
My deepest sympathy to all who  loved him and
cherish his memory.

Our condolencies to Doctor Lanis 's family and loved ones. Dr. Lanis was  a kind and caring doctor who treated my mother for the last couple of years. He was caring  and attentive to my mom's needs.

My heart grieves the loss of such a kind, intelligent physician.  We were partners in my medical care.  He listened and thought deeply about solutions to my medical issues.  We actually enjoyed our visits with him.  

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, his son, his wife and her family,and all who knew him. Death is never a solution to a problem. How sad that it came to that.

Dr. Lanis was one of the best physicians I’ve known, and I worked in inpatient healthcare for most of the time I was in his care. He called patients directly, as necessary, to be sure he was understanding a full picture. He spent extended time with us in appointments because he takes such detailed notes and stops to ask us more questions. He never interrupted. He never blew off something you said or made you feel embarrassed. I felt really safe speaking to him. This loss has been oddly difficult for those of us who saw him and have connected on social medial. The doctor we knew and the man we’ve come to learn about just didn’t add up. Losing this doctor will significantly impact my medical care as well as the medical care of countless other patients. It’s already started. I also grieve for the friends and family that are likely struggling with a lot of layered emotions as they process their loss. I hope the best for those that were close to him, and for the patients who he served.

Dr.lanis  helped my father who was his patient for 5 years greatly.God rest his soul and grant him eternal peace.

Dr. Lanis helped me lose an amount of weight that other doctors told me was impossible--he walked me through each challenge and encouraged me along the way. The level of health and mobility I enjoy now is greater than anyone thought possible. (Besides Dr. Lanis!) My life is greatly enriched because of his help. I believe in an afterlife, and I am looking forward to seeing Dr. Lanis again, and thanking him for the tremendous difference he made in the lives of so many.

Just received notice that Dr. Lanis passed away 3 weeks ago.  I was his patient for 5 plus years and had planned to see him in June for my next appointment.  I enjoyed his professionalism, the way he listened to me discuss my problems, and helped me find solutions for my ongoing battle with depression and anxiety.  I will miss his smile, laugh, and a physician who understood me while offering medical and personal advice to guide me through life.  I will always remember him and miss his playful personality.

Dr. Lanis was a wonderful human  being and his medical care which he provided  for a  decade was phenomenal.  The bedside manner Dr.Lanis served  his community patients with was one of which other doctors should also provide as well.  Dr. Lanis made his patients feel comfortable and it is crucial for providing the most beneficial healthcare to patients when showing them respect and finding common ground forming a good trusting physician and patient bond. This was where he shined. As a person in healthcare I’ve known that there is a mind body connection. Mental and physical health can truly go hand and hand and that is the best way to help patients by treating them helping both and he truly did help their PHYSICAL  and MENTAL health.

Dr. Lanis was a thorough and concerned doctor. He cared about his patients, took his time with us during our visits, and really tried to help. As someone with a rare genetic disease and autoimmune, he really worked on trying to resolve my issues. I used to joke with him, and he was a funny guy.  He helped me when misdiagnosed by other “specialists” and was extremely knowledgeable about internal issues. He cared, and he showed that. I’m so sad to hear that he was fired from his position, and continued to downward spiral afterwards. He is and will continue to be missed by many.  So many of us will have a hard time finding a physician who measures up to him. He is simply irreplaceable. My heart goes out to his family.

Dr Lanis was a great doctor who really listened to me always showed compassion.  I cared about him like a nephew.  He was so proud of his son his face lite up when I  ask about him. My heart got an additional break in it. Heartfelt condolences to everyone who had the luck to have known him. He is at peace now.

Doctor Lanis was our doctor since he graduated from medical school.  He always was very kind and took his time with us.  My husband just saw him a few weeks ago.  He always talked about his son and would show us his picture.  He will be missed by all that new him😢❤️

Dr.Lanus was my husband and my doctor for over a decade.  He was a kind and caring doctor my husband had many  health problems  and he always spent time taking care of all his concerns.  He was so special to my husband who passed away a year ago.  It’s difficult to find a doctor who truly cares about his patients and he was so special.  His family, associates and patients are in my prayers it’s a horrible tragedy and everyone who knew him are mourning his tragic death.
