

Born on May 8, 1946, died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston after a valiant five-month struggle. Throughout his ordeal, David maintained a calm, positive attitude. He faced his illness with humor, and love and concern for his beloved wife, Debbi, his daughter Sarina, sons Joshua and Joel, and his siblings, Peter Grebler, Jane (Moshe) Vaknin and Daniel (Rahel) Grebler. Raised in Springfield, Illinois, and a graduate of Washington University, David attended a post graduate program at Carnegie Mellon University. He started his working career as a business reporter for the St. Louis Globe-Democrat. He subsequently was an independent writer and consultant, devoting a portion of his time and significant skills to toy and game development. He was a partner, with his two cousins in Pokonobe Associates, licensor of Jenga.
David's volunteer activities were as important to him as his work. He twice served as Regional Advisory Board Chair of the Anti-Defamation League, Missouri/Southern Illinois district, and also served as National Chairman of the ADL. In addition, he served as president of the Board of Trustees and was a member of the Advisory Committee of the St. Louis Jewish Light newspaper. David also served on various boards of Washington University, Hillel and Jewish organizations. David achieved the rank of Major in the US Army Reserves, where he served as a communications officer.
Funeral service Sunday, February 19th, 1:00 PM at Central Reform Congregation, 5020 Waterman at Kingshighway. No visitation prior to service. Interment Beth Hamedrosh Hagodol Cemetery. Memorial contributions preferred to the Anti-Defamation League, 34 North Brentwood #2, St. Louis, MO, 63105.
