Beloved wife of Judge Edward L. Filippine for the past 62 years, and prior there to the late Dennis Phelan; dear mother of Mary Ann (Van) Strickland, Suzanne (Mark) Finney, and Edward L. (Dr. Maureen) Filippine, Jr.; dear grandmother of Cara (Marc) Thompson, Malia (T. J.) Stillwell, Meg (Dan) O’Brien, Haley, Jack, Mia and Matthew Filippine; dear great grandmother of Emma, Aiden, Marcus, Charlotte, Nolan, and Parker; dearest daughter of the late Joseph E. and Mary V. Dailey Babka; dear sister of Mary Ann (Robert) Kriegshauser, and of the late Dr. Joseph J. Babka, James R. (Jeanette) Babka, and Patricia (Guy) Gundaker; our dear aunt, cousin, and friend to many.
Dorothy was a bright light in the lives of everyone she knew. She was never down and always found the good in everyone she met. She simply did not know how to be negative or petty. Vivacious and irrepressible, her enthusiasm for her family (first and always), friends and life never dimmed. Compassion and kindness were her way; whenever family or friends needed anything, she was their joyful helper.
Dorothy was most grateful and appreciative of her education at the Academy of the Sacred Heart, and for the many deep friendships that blossomed through the Sacred Heart community. Her monthly lunches with many of those friends brought her great joy throughout her life.
Services: Visitation at Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church, 401 S. Lindbergh Blvd., Creve Coeur, MO 63131, on Friday, November 12, from 10:30 am until time of Funeral Mass at 11:30 am.
Interment S/S Peter and Paul Cemetery.
