
Harlin Vincent Mitauer passed away April 3, 2026. He was born to Bernice and Louis Mitauer on May 28, 1953 at The Jewish Hospital of St. Louis. He graduated from Ladue Horton Watkins High School. Subsequently, he opened a clothing store, The Hideout, before going to work in the scrap metal business like his father. He loved sports, having coached several winning basketball teams at the all-girls Mary Institute. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals, and he collected sports memorabilia. He loved his cars, his, dogs, and horse races.
Harlin is predeceased by his parents, Bernice and Louis. He is survived by his beloved son, Louis Elliot Mitauer, and his stepson Dominic Bommarito of St. Louis, sisters Andrea Mitauer of Sherman Oaks, CA and Sherri Mankovsky (Jerald) of Austin, TX, nephews Joshua Mankovsky (Kirby) and children of Katy, TX, Jacob Mankovsky of Austin, TX, and Jonah Mankovsky (Audrey) and children of Austin, TX. He is also survived by numerous cousins and one aunt, Hannah Finer Tenenbaum.
Graveside service Monday, April 13 at 1 PM at B’nai Amoona Cemetery, 930 North and South Road in St. Louis. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
