
Jeanne Shieber Milder of University City, MO, died Dec. 27, 2018 at the age of 98. A noted concert pianist and music educator, Jeanne was a graduate of the St. Louis Institute of Music and Eastman School of Music (1942), and was the founding chair of the music department of St. Louis Community College. Jeanne’s performing career spanned over 80 years and included appearances with the St. Louis Symphony, numerous chamber ensembles, and the St. Louis Ladies Friday Musical Club, of which she was a proud member for seven decades.
Born August 20, 1920 to Bessie and Jacob Shieber of St. Louis, she was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Benjamin Milder for 73 years; dear mother and mother-in-law of Dr. Michael Milder (Sarajane), Dr. Barry Milder (Michelle Tobin), Morton Milder, and Rabbi Laurence Milder (Janet Elis); dear grandmother of Jonathan Milder (Marlene Ramirez-Cancio) and Daniel Milder (Barbara Stehle), Kelly Baldwin (Chad), Rabbi Rebecca Milder (Ethan Bueno de Mesquita), Rachel Lubchansky (Adam) and Jacob Milder (Julie), Miriam, Avi and Alex Milder; dear great-grandmother of 10; dear sister and sister-in-law of William Shieber (Horty) and the late Herbert Shieber (Ruth). Dear sister-in-law, aunt and friend to many.
Visitation December 28, 2:00 p.m. at Congregation Shaare Emeth, 11645 Ladue Road at Ballas, followed by funeral service at 2:30 p.m.. Interment Beth Hamedrosh Hagodol Cemetery. Memorial contributions preferred to Congregation Shaare Emeth.
