Hi dad... Well I thought the 1 yr anniversary day of your passing would be hard, but it wasn't really, it was actually quite a good day! :) I got to spend some blessed time with Mom and Di. Then we came to the gravesite and spent time there. It also was nice having some alone time there at your gravesite on such a beautiful day just me as I sat there talking to you... It was a lovely time and so peaceful!!!! Then lyssa met me there and saw your tombstone for the first time and cried. I showed her the overlook place at the river and she also feels the peacefulness there. Then we met up with Lyn n Chuck at the tattoo shop and all got memorial tattoos in your honor. Then we went out to eat. It truly was a blessed day! I still miss you and think of you so much every day!!!! Love you forever... Love Buffy

The anniversary of your passing come and went yesterday, It was a day quite like Sept 25th 2014, the sky was blue and the weather beautiful. I wonder  what you thought on that day as your spirit left your body?  When floating above the blue skies and tall trees, did you feel the peace that passes all understanding? Did your Mom meet you in the clouds?  When you saw Jesus, did you drop to your new, and strong KNEES and weep?  Well, one day we all will experience it, and I know we'll see you again... Alleluia!

Ken, Sweet memories of you focus my tears today. Life would be sweeter if you were here serving the Lord fully arm in arm with me.  We didn't have the fullness of doing that here, but now in the Spirit, we can! I miss what could have been - should have been, but I focus on the grace from our heavenly Father - We ended WELL!!! I continue to work, work, work in God's kingdom every day.  I learned how to work wholeheartedly from you, my dear, though now I do not have you at my side physically and I miss that. Dear Husband...It has been almost a month since I last wrote a message to you.  It has been a busy/eventful month with several significant changes.  I am going to have a ministry helping people out of our home - not buying a zone-approved house and renting this one out. I feel really good about this.  God has been very patient with me as I struggle with trying to discern his will. I have time and funds to do good and I so want to! I feel His protection because He knows my heart and wants me to do well, as I know you do, too.  I am so humbled by His and your love for me - as well as our whole family. Dad I had a dream about you last night and I saw you in a crowd of people and I picked you out immediately. You were standing so straight and tall like your Military photos and I was so happy to see you strong and healthy. My sister in law Kelly wrote to me in the early morning hours stating that you wouldn't want me to keep grieving and that we will sometimes see our loved ones in our dreams and I did that night and when I woke up I got her message. Ken, Sunday, celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ...I went to church, without you by my side. I went to Di and Paul's, without you by my side.  I then went to the park and walked two times around, without you. I came home and tried to visit with our lonely neighbor and she wasn't home.  I came home.You weren't there.  The saving grace is that Jesus was/is with both of us.  I looked at a picture of us taken recently.  You look so tall and proud, despite disfiguring surgeries.  I had my head on your shoulder and my arm around your waist. I felt I was with you again and the day ended peacefully.  Love, Jan

Grandpa, there are so many things I wish I could tell you, so many times I wish I could come over and give you a hug, talk to you and see your face. Just like Kaitlyn said I too cry every time I am reminded you are no longer here for me to do any of that. I keep thinking time will heal the pain of the emptiness I feel, but it's not working out as well as I hoped and as people tell me. But I'm finding ways to get through you will always be so very loved and deeply missed until I get to see you again one day.

Dad, It's been 6 months since you left us..it seems so long since I talked with you or touched you. I miss you so much. So much has happened in that 6 months though such as Anna turned 35 and Mom had her appendix removed. We had many birthdays and of course the holidays which we all missed you being there but I know in spirit you were there.We'll continue day by day to do our best here until it's our time to join you in Heaven. Ken Dear, today marks the 6th month since you bodily left us to go on without your oversight. We know you can still see our daily activities and we hope you are pleased.  This world has many hurdles, some end in victory and some do not.  We cannot see the future and I'm sure that is good.  That way we have to trust the Lord and our guardian angel to protect us and help us to overcome obstacles.  Such help I got last Friday.  It would have been easy to ignore my symptoms and keep waiting for the "virus" to go away.  That would have killed me. Gangrenous perforated infection was in my appendix.  It was taken out Friday p.m.  I had been suffering with it since 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.  Thanks to Godly maneuvering I am still here with our family...humbled and awed...so I'm still looking to the day I will be with Jesus, you, and all our many loved ones who await the rest of us to come, too. Well dad.. Today is your grandson's 38th birthday... But you know that don't you! I have to wonder if when he greeted you in the LIGHT, did you tackle each other, or just throw the proverbial football???
I'm so jealous that you got to see him before me, I miss you both so incredibly much, that mere words aren't able to express it here. But.. I'm happy that there was the reunion.. and that neither one of you are suffering, but rather you are rejoicing and singing to the KING OF KINGS. Dad, Mom had a health scare on Wednesday 3-18 but today is Saturday and she's coming home. God still has work for her to do here so she won't be seeing you just yet. Love you always! Lyn

Ken, today is 3/20/2014...nothing special, but like most of our days together a ordinary day.  I would like to just have one more ordinary day with you...to see your face  alive with interest and determination, to make plans together for our day, and to ask the daily question: "What would you like for dinner?"  Your answer was usually, "I'm not finished with breakfast yet."  I always said,"but you know I'd like to plan ahead...I have to take meat out of the freezer." Mom made it through yesterday, but not unscathed. Tears flowed more freely than usual, but I'm so glad she had your oldest daughter to take her out to a restaurant to celebrate this day in history. YAY.. And though I don't think you would have liked Chinese food, you probably are finding many Chinese people in HEAVEN, huh? How cool to be a part of such a melting pot.  I can't wait to join you. Ken..This morning I awakened while crying out to the Lord, "No, No, this can't be happening...two more huge cancer bumps on the side of your neck."take them away, God!"  I looked at your face, your eyes were sad and looked like you were about to cry.  I held your face and your lip quivered.   It was about 6 a.m. I could not stop thinking of the scene.  I got up and wanted to talk with you.  Here I am. Today would have been our 63rd wedding anniversary.  How gratefully happy we were then, weren't we!  I am still grateful for our lives together despite troubled times.  You are still my hero.  I will always love you and treasure our precious memories. Hi Grandpa I wish I still was able to come over to your house, see your smiling face, get wrapped in a giant hug from you and actually say HI to you again. I miss you just as much if not more somedays as the time passes. Mom gave me a birthday gift of a beautiful frame with our picture in it from when I was about 5. Tim hung it up yesterday in a really nice place in my bedroom, able to be seen from laying down in bed. For me to see you holding me in your arms in this picture when I was little is as if you are giving me a good morning and goodnight hug every day! I miss you so incredible much Grandpa! Not a day goes by that I don't think of you.

Dear Husband of Mine...Today is exactly four months since you passed from mornings of struggle to glorious mornings of joy.  I am now attending a grief support group every Monday morning. Sue goes with me and we are meeting sweet people like us, each with their own story to tell.  I am also trying hard to diligently share what we have spent a lifetime accumulating.   Our daughters are all contributing their skills.  We are trying to help the innocent with their own particular griefs..such as being homeless.  You and I never experienced such a sadness but from our lifetime of sacrifice and savings we can show thanksgiving for the homes we had.

Dad, I quietly celebrated your birthday last thursday without fanfare or fuss. I simply recalled the times that we gathered together as a family and I observed the way that you captained your ship. I was always amazed and entertained as you executed both diplomacy and finnese. Now all I have are those memories to help me through the times that call for those life skills. We celebrated as a family on saturday and it was almost like you were there but not really. Our wishes were as close as we could get. Then Sunday came...the hardest day for me personally. I went to one of the last places that you and I went alone. I walked slowly down the bank of the river and recalled that precious time. You were still strong and determined...and my hero. You were my last father figure. You are gone and I am fatherless again. I can only live for the day when all GOD's children are fatherless no more. Until then you are father to us here in my mind and in my heart.

Hi Dad, We celebrated your 83rd Birthday on Saturday with the family and it was fun! Sue and Mom had a game to find out who knew about you and your life. WOW we learned alot! We had Chicken and all of the fixings and cherry pie, coconut creme pie and my cheesecake that you loved so much. In the evening we played card games that reminded us of the fun times we all had with you playing and competing. You're always in our hearts and minds Dad..we'll never forget you! I awakened early this morning thinking of you and this special day.  Leaving a birthday card at your place at the table was want I wanted to do, but seemed too much a break with reality.  So, here I am leaving a message as a "guest" at your special site.  May this be your happiest birthday EVER!..Surrounded by the Morning Star, the Prince of Peace, Jesus Our Lord, who died so we may live forever with him...as you are receiving now.  I thank God for the life I've had with you and the many blessings we've been given.  Our four daughters are doing well despite the pains they experience.  They are strong, independent and responsible women.  I know you are glad for the strengths and compassion they have, and I am, too. God has been, and is, very good to us all.  I want to arrange for a shelter for hurting women and children partly as thanksgiving for daughters who hurt too, but are actually handling life well. Before I join you someday I want to do this. You would probably say "What's new about that?"  You know what?  Your birthdate is coming up in two days...WOW it will be celebrated with some of your favorite foods and your family gathered to remember your specialness. I look forward to you being there with us, smiling at how little it takes to make us happy while you are covered in riches of every kind that we've yet to know. 30 years old today, grandpa. I got many birthday blessings and lots of kind words, but I did for sure feel like I was missing someone today. However, now reflecting, I am confident that when I woke up without a headache to a slightly warmer and sunny day, you were shinning down on me and sending your love and blessings the only way you can now. I miss you still so much every day and dream of you most nights, each time waking with tears in my eyes. I can't wait to see you again someday, but for now there is much still for me to do here. Our lives seem to be rushing by sooooo fast Dad.  Wasn't it just yesterday when I held your hand around your kitchen table and we prayed over supper?  We had a meeting yesterday which revealed what's been in Mom's heart for so long: The desire to help those in need.  You can see her eyes light up, and you can actually see her heart smile as she talks about her plans for God's Glory. Now, being the practical man that you were, you are probably looking down from Heaven and saying, "I knew it" but also know that God's spirit, your FATHER's heart has been sewn into Moms and she is trying so hard to do the will of the FATHER. Jesus tells us to care for those less fortunate then us, and all of us, want to be that blessing to others... Time is short and there is so much evil in this world, but Goodness and Mercy shall triumph, OUR GOD REIGNS.

Dad,
Yesterday many of us were fighting to save a family member who really isn't blood kin to us, but our child none-the-less. You taught us this, Dad.  You taught us to fight for the truth, to champion the underdog, to do the right thing. I think Big Matt was touched the most, and I really think a career in Social Work to help kids is his calling. Through your lineage, we have many strong, determined individuals who I pray at the end of their lives will hear," Well done, good and faithful servant!"  Thank YOU DAD for being ever present for 82 years in our lives. What a legacy you've left!

Hi again...Today is the 2nd day of January.  Sue and I went to the library and someone there asked about our Christmas.  I told her it was bittersweet but we will go on.  She asked how many years we had been married and I told her 62.  She said she has been thinking of me. I turned really OLD yesterday... Mom says I'm closer to having that number turned around (75) than 29 again... But oh well, It's okay. To me it just means that I'm one step, one day closer to seeing you AGAIN!

        I can't believe I'm 55 today!!! It's been nice but kinda sad too for it's my 1st Birthday w/o my Dad! My hubby took off today to be with me, what a sweetie he is  One good thing about being 55 is that 5 is my Dad's favorite number and I made it to double 5. Wish he was here to celebrate with me and to say "Man you're getting old"...I miss that. Love you Dad!

Well, Dad... We celebrated Lyn's 55th birthday yesterday.  Buff had her wonderful Chili and hotdogs, and you would have loved it, if you were there.. But You were there weren't you?  Your spirit was with us, were you happy or sad with what you saw? I really think it's because we are all individuals and we all are grieving for you in different ways. To GOD be the Glory, because we all we rise from these ashes, and be purified, and be whole once we ALL link up again. We are trying our best to put one foot in front of the other and continue to walk/live in this world.  It isn't easy, Some of us want to go "home" and be with Jesus more than others, but we all know that God is keeping us here for a reason.  We still have work to do, so we will all try hard to LOVE, FORGIVE and have peace, and live as harmoniously as possible, because not only you, but Jesus tells us.. Go, and be in Peace. 
So we will Sing songs of Angels, Sing in exaltation, sing ye, oh sing ye, of Bethlehem. It's almost Christmas Dad... And YOU're having the ultimate Christmas!.. You're spending it in Heaven! Alleluia.. Come Lord Jesus, Come.

God has been so good to us... Allowing us to have you as a father, and a great friend. I wonder how it is going up their in Heaven... I hope that the tastes that you longed for in these last days have been satisfied. I know that your wonderful singing voice is filling the heavens. And now, it is Jesus' way... as you are truly HOME. Dad... We have had several days of rainy weather and these dreary days are making it hard to get through without crying most of the day... You are missed so much!!! It still doesn't seem real that you are gone!!! :(

Ken, today is Sunday. It has been raining for three days and it is easy to feel tears on my face, too.   I think of how you now have no tears, no pain, no disease and no more death and it would be easy to envy your new role in heaven.   I know my work here is not finished yet...or as you often said, "when your time is up, your time is up."  It is just hard to adjust to you not being here and I have to go alone.  Of course, I have much support, especially from our daughters, but I want you to know it is a struggle and sad at times. But you already know that and you know that I have loved you for more than six decades and will forever. Jan

Dear Dad, It's been 17 days since you left us and began your new chapter of life. I hope it's everything you dreamed it would be and more. I know you will be waiting with open arms for each and everyone of us when our departure date ( or should I say, when our arrival time) arrives. Dad, the wonderful qualities you lived by here on Earth: integrity, steadfastness, loyalty, commitment to your family, tons of common sense and a wonderful manager of time and resources, will serve the kingdom well! You will be a huge blessing in Heaven as you were on Earth. While you will be deeply missed here we know we will be with you again and you will have the great privilege and joy of showing us around our new home: a mansion with many rooms to enjoy one another's company again. Dad, you were a "winner" here and are a bigger winner there. You hit the jackpot this time! I hope you are enjoying your time with Jacob and Aaliyah and your parents and siblings and the sister you never got to meet, Annette. Would you give them one of your wonderful hugs for me? Hi Ken, The house is too quiet, even though you were always a quiet man, I miss talking to you.  I started playing Christian songs from my pile of CD's and I know the Holy Spirit enlightened me with the thought that  "You are now closer to your Ken than you ever were in life for he is praising God as you are."  I cried heartily for the first time since you passed...I think the shock of you not being here with us is now lessening.  I intend to keep on singing praises with you to our King and Savior, Jesus Christ. "Bye Bye."

It's me, Paul. Sometimes it was Ken and sometimes it was Buddy...but it was always and always will be Dad. I was amazed at the acceptance and the understanding that I received from you and the rest of the family from the start. You have always kept a trick or two up your sleeves and the final one was when I left the room and you decided to leave the room as well. Although we went in two different directions that day I eagerly look forward to the day when we are together again. I won"t be bringing quarters so don't expect it. I remain open to the wisdom that you imparted over the years. You will live on in those of us that you truly touched. I miss your straight forwardness, sincerity, practicality, and a host of other characteristics too numerous to list. Enjoy the JOY of the LORD. I love you Dad.

I don't really know what to write here as I sit here with the tears rolling down my face and a heavy heart. I have a thousand thoughts running thru my head reminiscing of the memories created, time spent talking and playing games, coming to you for advice, or simply popping in just to see how you are, to share the good and bad times and to share new news! All I want to do right now is give you a big hug and be wrapped in your big protective and loving arms! In your last few days here, I was there taking care of you just as you were always there for me. I remember that last conversation that we had: You told me to just go home, that I needed to be at home (I always have too much to do). I asked you if you wanted me to go home. You said, NO, so I told you to stop telling me to leave and told you I love you. I do have a crazy busy life, but you are more important than all of it and I hope that you knew that. I am so sorry that I didn't make a better effort to allow more time with you and grandma, but those last few days spending every possible minute at your side, I know you were happy I was there. I know you had so much pain and was tired of all the fighting your body had been doing for so long. Now you are pain free and dancing with Jesus. I am trying to keep my head up and stay positive, I will always try to make you proud as you will always be watching over me from Heaven. I love you soo much and am so thankful for the love and special bond we shared. Miss you so incredibly much!! <3 Lyssa

Dad, We went to Shop around the Corner yesterday and it was the first time without you. Memories of you sitting up in the front of the store reading the paper, drinking coffee and eating a few cookies while we shopped. You were so patient even though you weren't feeling well. Memories of you and the loss we all feel without you in our lives is so hard but we are taking one day at a time till we see you again. I'll see you later Dad and Love you always! Lyn

Tears still flow freely whenever I think of you, so I think it's pretty accurate to say I'm leaking all the time!  Tomorrow it will be a week since you've passed, and somehow it is not getting easier.  As a matter of fact, each day is harder as I feel farther and farther away from your strength, your love and your constant guidance. I know that I'm a big girl, and that I can make it, but knowing I can't pop over and see you is hard.  I had a dream last night and you were in it... Smiling, laughing and it was so good to see you again. So many times we take each other for granted in this world. I never want to do that And I'm glad that you gave us all of yourself in life. For 56 years, I've been able to call you, see you, and touch you. Now, I only have my memories and at my age.. sometimes those are covered in cobwebs. I miss you Dad, terribly.

Grandpa, I love you so very much and I miss you more than I can say. I wish so much that I had come to see you sooner. Hardly anyone knows about the dream that I had the night you started to feel worse, but somehow I think you know and I am glad. Mostly I am just grateful that you are at peace and will never be in pain again. And one day we will all see you again. We will take good care of Grandma, we love her. Dad... Each day that passes it seems I miss you more. Dad, Yesterday alot of your family and friends got together and had a meal of your favorite foods, including a braunschweiger ball, cherry cheesecake, hostess snowballs, sweet tea, Popeye's chicken, Donut Delite's donuts and cold pork and beans which I think only you and I eat and many other good foods. I would of loved for you to be there with us enjoying this feast in your Honor! Thank you Dad for always being a good provider of the family and our Rock! Love you always! Lyn and Chuck

Dad,This day was so hard to get through but it was also a very beautiful ceremony with the military and the color guard. You were given a honorable funeral and burial with which you would be proud of and so richly deserve! The whole room was filled with family and friends and lots of love! I'll miss you everyday Dad and love you always!
