

KUM-SOON KIM, born February 28, 1939 passed peacefully on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Fairmont Senior Living in Richmond Heights, St. Louis, Missouri where she was a resident for 4 years. She was with familiar caregivers and around familiar surroundings during her 4 days of hospice care. She is survived by her daughter Cathy Kim Naughton, her son-in-law Thomas Macher, her widowed daughter-in-law Jennifer Kim and her four grandchildren, Patrick Naughton, Ethan Naughton, Emma Kim, and Lily Kim. Mrs. Kim’s husband Song-kuk Kim and her son Paul Kim preceded her death in 2021 and 2020 respectively.
Kum-Soon Kim immigrated to the United States on October 10, 1971 with her husband and 2 children to Queens, New York to continue her nursing career. She became a naturalized United States citizen on February 13, 1979. She was an operating room nurse in New York until her retirement in 2004, when she moved to St. Louis with her late husband to be closer to her two grandsons, Patrick and Ethan Naughton.
During her life in St. Louis, she was an active member in the First Korean Presbyterian Church and enjoyed gardening at her home in House Springs, Missouri. She moved to Fairmont Senior Living after the death of her husband in 2021.
A private memorial service will be held at Kriegshauser Mortuary – West Chapel on Saturday, October 25, 2025 with a private burial to follow at Bellerive Heritage Gardens Cemetery, Garden of Rose Hill in Creve Coeur.
