

Mattie Lou French, age 84, of Frontenac, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 20, 2024. She was born in Mount Sterling, Illinois to Lou and Mary Henrick. Mattie was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Dr. Warren French, and resided in St. Louis, Missouri. She exceled in high school and participated in the 4-H program. Mattie attended the Nursing Program at Barnes where she met Warren, who was enrolled in Washington University School of Dentistry. They were generous and supportive of their community, extended family and many friends. Mattie and Warren had a special loving bond, raising their children, building a practice and experiencing life together.
Mattie through her life maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, appreciation of life, love of family and friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor that will be greatly missed. Mattie enjoyed reading, volunteering, sewing, gardening, boating, snow skiing, hiking, biking, golfing, walking her dogs, raising her children and spending time with family and friends. She was blessed to take many vacations traveling across the United States and Europe.
Mattie was the business manager for her husband’s dental practice and was actively involved in the community. Mattie was President of the Wednesday Club of Saint Louis, a club founded by women who wished to continue their intellectual growth, stay abreast of the times and contribute to the community. She volunteered for the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, providing world-class productions, robust community and educational programs. She volunteered at the Dental Health Theatre whose mission is to inspire kids to lead healthier lives and make great life choices. She was a devote Catholic and an active member of Incarnate Word and Our Lady of Pillar as Eucharistic Minister and volunteer.
Mattie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children – son Michael (Dao) French and children Chris (Quyen), Sean (Nancy), Michelle, Mitchell and Michiel; son Robert (Lisa) and children Alex (Roxy), Patrick (Ginnie) and Victoria; and son James (Jen) and children Elizabeth (Jacob) Cummins and Katie and great grandmother of Carson, Kennedy and Clark Cummins. She is survived by her siblings John (Remy) Henrick, Mary Ann (Bill) Mountain, David (Anne) Henrick, Barbara Alohoete, Julie (Bruce) Bullard and Nancy (Carl) Mitchell.

A Visitation for Mattie will be held Friday, January 10, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Kriegshauser Mortuary-West Chapel, 9450 Olive Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63132.
