Patricia Jane Finnegan Reding passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025 at the age of 90. She was born on December 20, 1934, in St. Louis, MO. She graduated from William Woods College and went to work at Monsanto Company where she met the love of her life and husband of 67 years, Nicholas Reding. Pat was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In fact, Pat’s family was always her first priority. She will forever be remembered for taking such good care of her family and continually putting them first. Affectionately known as “Nana”, she was ready to drop anything if one of her grandchildren, children or husband needed her. Quiet, loving, and patient in nature, she was happiest reading books to her grandchildren, teaching them about the many varieties of flowers in her garden or listening intently to the stories they told her. Pat loved the natural world around her and devoted much of her time to planting, cutting, arranging and appreciating the beauty of her beloved gardens. She will be greatly missed!
She is survived by her devoted husband, Nicholas Reding, her children, Nancy Reding Breckenridge (Jim) and Nick Reding, her five grandchildren, Nicholas, Andrew and Caroline Breckenridge and Will and Stella Reding, her sister, Nancy Blanton, and niece Jennifer Blanton.
We are especially grateful to the caregivers who lovingly and compassionately attended to Pat’s every need.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat’s memory to the Missouri Botanical Garden or Salem
Methodist church.
A memorial service will be held at Salem Methodist Church on July 7, 2025 at 11:30. The burial will be private.
