

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. Primitiva L. Wagan, on August 28, 2024 at the age of 84. A devoted Catholic, respected physician, loving wife, mother, relative, and friend, Dr. Wagan peacefully entered into eternal rest, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on November 27, 1939 in Alalum, San Pascual, Batangas Philippines to Feliciano and Valentina Cusi Lopez. Dr. Wagan, always believed becoming a physician was God's call for her and it was her duty to be the best she could be. She earned her medical degree from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in 1965, she practiced in the Philippines. In 1966, she and her husband Sixto moved to St. Louis, MO to begin an internship at Deaconess Hospital and complete her Internal Medicine residency at St. Louis County Hospital. Dr. Wagan practiced at Deaconess Hospital and Homer Phillips Hospital. She served as Head of Internal Medicine, Chief of Staff and Medical Director of The Labor Health Institute of St. Louis. LHI was one of the oldest and most successful comprehensive, prepayment group practice plans of the time providing comprehensive medical and dental care to approximately 15,000 union members and their families through a well-organized group practice unit. Her last service before retirement was as Medical Consultant for the Metropolitan Psychiatric Hospital of Missouri. Over a distinguished career spanning fifty-five years, Dr. Wagan cared for countless patients with a level of skill and empathy that touched many lives.
Beyond her professional life, Dr. Wagan was a loving wife, mother, and Lola, cherished by her family and friends. Dr. Wagan was preceded in death by her beloved spouse, Sixto L. Wagan and their cherished Son, Patrick Sean. She is survived by her children Prima Wagan, Sylvia (Michael) Scheuler, and Sixto Jr. (Matthew) Wagan; adored by her grandchildren Emma Marie Love and Daniel Sixto Love, Anna Catherine (Michael) Kammeyer and Joseph Michael Scheuler; beloved by her siblings Carmelita (Paul) Breva, Julian (Socoro) Panopio, Mindalu (Rolando) Jumarang, Uvaldoz "Buddy" (Marites) Panopio, Yolanda (Ignacio) Garcia, Julietta (Nonelon) Villalobos, Marietta Panopio; treasured cousin, ninang, and friend to many.
A Visitation for Primitiva will be held Monday, September 2, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kriegshauser Mortuary-West Chapel, 9450 Olive Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63132, with a Rosary at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will occur Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Immacolata Catholic Parish, 8900 Clayton Rd, St. Louis, MO 63117, followed by the Committal at Resurrection Cemetery, 6901 MacKenzie Rd, St. Louis, MO 63123.
