

Loving husband of Crucifix Mary (nee Bono) Pagano for 64 years; dearest father of Salvatore, Dr. Peter (Martha), Chris (Toni), Joe (Jackie), and the late Paul (Lynne) Pagano; dear brother of Mamie Bono, Paul and the late Anna Buffa, Josephine Campagna, Virginia Brinkmann, and Pasquale Pagano; dear grandfather of 10, great grandfather of 4, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend.
Dr. Pagano was born in the home of his parents Salvatore and Angelina (nee Tocco) Pagano at 1526 North 19th Street. He graduated from St. Leo's parochial school in 1935, from McBride High School in 1939, enlisted in the Army Specialized Training Program (ASTP) in 1943 while continuing Dental Studies, graduated from St. Louis University Dental School in February 28, 1946, and was married on September 1, 1946 to Crucifix Mary Bono.
Entered the U.S. Army in October of 1946 as a First Lieutenant and was discharged as a Captain in October, 1948.
His accomplishments and affiliations during life include:
Taught Dentistry at St. Louis University Dental School in the Operative Department March - October 1946 and then October, 1948 through June 1953.
A member of the AMVETS Post 11, a service organization, he is now a Life Member.
Performed dental services on Orphans teeth at the German St. Vincent's Orphanage. While his children attended St. Ann's Catholic School he performed annual examination of children's teeth for the school.
He is a Charter Member of the St. Louis Chapter of UNICO National since 1953 and was still a member upon his death. This is a National organization made up of men of Italian extraction, who raise funds for charities. In 2004 received a plaque for 50 years of dedication and service.
Dr. Pagano is a member of Faith Hospital Staff in the Department of Dentistry and Chairman of all dental committees who operated at the Hospital. He also served as a member of the Faith Hospital Board until it closed in 1990.
Member of the Foundation to the Greater St. Louis Dental Society, raising funds for dental students in need.
Member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, since 1959.
Member of the Vitale Medical Foundation, a charity foundation to promote scholarships, and help needy students in Medical, Dental and Nursing professions.
A Past President of the Dental Fraternity of Delta Sigma Delta, and now a Life Member of the Graduate Chapter.
Was active on the committee that brought the Dental Health Theater to the City of St. Louis where it is still in operation in downtown St. Louis. Every year thousands of children are bussed to this theater, to be educated on their need to brush their teeth and have good dental health.
Since 1948, a member and past president of the St. Apollonian Guild for Dentists.
A member of the Laymen Retreat League of St. Louis, where he made 37 White House Retreats.
A member of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, a National Honorary Society for Dentists.
Member of the Who's Who in the Midwest, 1974 - 1975 publication.
Member of the American Society of Dentistry for Children, 1963 through 1973.
President of the Greater St. Louis Dental Society in 1970, after serving on may committees and Boards to qualify for President.
Served as third Vice President of the Missouri Dental Association 1971; Past President of the North District Dental Society, 1955; Past President of the St. Louis University Dental Alumni Association, 1960-1961.
Fellow of the American College of Dentist since 1979.
Past President of St. Ann's Men's Club, 1957.
Past President of Christian Brothers College High School Parents Club, 1968-1969.
Was on the Board of Directors of the Hope Education and Research Center.
A Life Member of the A.D.A, American Dental Association; Life Member of the Missouri Dental Association; and a Life Member of the Greater St. Louis Dental Association.
Received the "Spirit of Columbus Award" given by the Columbus Day Parade Community, October, 2000.
Past President of the North County Italian American Seniors after serving as Treasurer, Secretary, and Vice President, 1999-2001.
Awarded a plaque from the Misericordia Society for Outstanding and Dedicated Services.
Member of the Sicilian Cultural Association and served as Chaplain in 2005.
President of the Residents Association of the Gatesworth Senior Living Association.
