Shirley was a woman of class, humanity, good will and had a onderful sense of humor. Her smile was absolutely infectious with that twinkle in her eye. She was attuned to all around her and made sure old friends and news were welcomed warmly regardless of the situation. At Board meetings, she was held in high esteem for her strongly held values and ability to move people to action....in the right direction. And she made newcomers to JH and STL always feel comfortable. We think of her fondly often and will miss her. She was a remarkable person for whom we cared for deeply.

Seeing Shirley at Jewish Hospital (Barnes-Jewish Hospital) was always a highlight of my day when I worked there for almost twenty years.  She was a devoted board member and had a strong passion for the nursing program and the auxiliary.  She was so loved and will be missed by many people in our community. No words could ever be said of the LOVE and respect we had for mom.  From the time mom entered our lives we knew how special she was and how lucky we were to have someone make us a part of her life.  we always called her " our Godmother ".  She was always there to listen and show love when needed.  No one will ever be able to fill her shoes, and we will NEVER forget what she has done for us over the many years.  We will truly miss her.
