Thurman Lee Milburn Jr

MILBURN, Thurman Lee Jr. 91 of St. Louis, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2015. Mel was the beloved husband of the late Ida Belle Johnson and the late Mildred A. Milburn (nee: Schnelting). Mel was the beloved son of the late Thurman Lee Milburn, Sr. and the late Elena Milburn (nee: Foti). He was the loving father of Patricia Pils (husband, the late John), Claudia Doriath (husband, the late John), Ronald Milburn and the late Thurman Milburn, III. He was the stepfather of David (Marilyn) Kraemer and Judi (William) Rose. Mel was the loving grandfather of Alexander Milburn and Mackenzie Milburn; step-grandfather of Sam LaRole, Andrea Linnebach, Grant Kraemer, Trent Kraemer and Mark Kraemer. He was the dear great grandfather of Arthur Milburn; brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.

Mel was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Corps. He worked as a driver for BiState Transportation for over forty years with a perfect driving record. A man of many interests and talents, Mel had his pilot’s license before he could drive, he raced boats, and he raised orchids and roses. Mel could fix anything and was an artist as well. He enjoyed sculpting in various mediums. He was also very proud of his Italian heritage.

A funeral service honoring Mel will be offered at 11:30 am, Thursday August 27, 2015 at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Rd., Lemay, MO Family and friends will be gathering for a visitation from 4-8 pm, Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the funeral home. Entombment will follow the service in the Mt Hope Mausoleum with Military Honors.
