

ST. MARTINVILLE - Funeral services will be celebrated for James E. "Jed" Doyle, Jr., age 60, at 11:00 am Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Jenkins Memorial Baptist Church. Pastor Jessie Charpentier will officiate. Interment will follow in the Methodist Cemetery in St. Martinville.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home of St. Martinville on Monday from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm. The visiting hours will continue on Tuesday at Jenkins Memorial Baptist Church from 8:00 am until services.
A native and resident of St. Martinville, Jed passed away peacefully on Friday, October 7, 2011 at Dauterive Hospital, with his family at his side.
Jed, as he was known by family and friends, was the owner and operator of James Doyle Trucking and worked with United Vision Logistics. Prior to that, he worked as an air condition repairman with Murphy Hulin.
Jed was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending time at his camp in the Basin, cooking meals for family and friends, and being the jokster to get everyone laughing. Jed and his family also loved to travel, often leaving for a trip on the spur of the moment. He leaves behind many fond memories that will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Delores Dupuis Doyle of St. Martinville; two children, Benjamin "Ben" Doyle and Jamie Doyle Hudson and husband Mike all of St. Martinville; Jed's faithful companions, Bubba and Taco (his dog and cat); sisters, Patty Barras and husband Carroll of Sugarland, TX and Peggy Charlet of Katy, TX; brother-in-law, Warren Barras and wife Nancy of New Iberia; aunts, Eloise Kimber of Lacombe and Helen Hackney of Charlotte, NC; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by hisparents, James E. Doyle, Sr. and Thelma Biegle Doyle; and sister, Penny Barras; and brother-in-law, Fred Charlet.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ben Doyle, Mike Hudson, Shawn O'Shea, Thomas and Timothy Dupuis, and Warren Barras. Honorary pallbearers will be David and Michael Dupuis, Carroll Breaux, Howard Viator, Mike Charlet, Steve Talley, Carmen Tate, and Carroll Barras.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with expenses.
