Jamie Charles Haywood

ST. MARTINVILLE – Funeral services will be conducted for Jamie Charles Haywood, age 38, at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church. Msgr. Douglas Courville will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home of St. Martinville on Tuesday beginning at 11:00 am until service time on Wednesday. There will be a Rosary at 7:00 pm on Tuesday.

Jamie was born August 16, 1972 to Charles “Chuck” Haywood and Sharon Mouisset Haywood in Lafayette. He worked with Burner Fire Control and was also a carpenter. Jamie was a hard worker who was always concerned about the welfare of his family and would help anyone in need. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend and will be missed dearly.

Survivors include his fiancée, Shelly Smith of Catahoula; five children, Alyssa Haywood, Hailey, Heather, Lil Man and Landon Cowart; his mother, Sharon Haywood of Milton; his brother, Brannon Haywood and wife Veronica; nephews, Brannon, Collin and Jadyn Haywood; and grandparents, Paul Mouisset and Mary Lee Haywood.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles “Chuck” Haywood; and grandparents, Nell Zeringue Mouisset and Lawrence Haywood.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brannon Haywood, Justin Broussard, Larry Lyons, Clarence and Jody Smith, and Walter Picard.
