Sandra Lyn Dore' Barajas, a loving and devoted wife, sister, aunt and dear friend to many, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Tulane Hospital in New Orleans. At her passing, Sandra was 54.
Sandra, affectionately known as "Nanny", was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time at home with her family and friends. She had a love and passion for animals, and raised chickens and goats and was sometimes referred to as the "chicken lady and Nanny goat". But her pride and joy was her sweet chihuahua Kiki who gave her unconditional love.
Paco spoke of her love for eating out, but not so much when he brought home McDonald's, and this memory brought smiles and laughter to her family. And her sisters reminisced about the fun times they shared attending the local festivals and the Breaux Bridge garage sale.
Sandra was a sweet person, but as Paco said, "she could be a firecracker when she wanted to." You always knew where you stood with her and that's what friends and family loved about her. Her heart was filled with love for her family and she will be missed dearly. Although Sandra will no longer be with us in this earthly life, her memory and legacy will live on in the hearts and thoughts of all who knew and loved her. Rest well Sandra, for you have earned your heavenly reward.
Sandra is survived by her husband, Francisco "Paco" Barajas; her sisters and brothers, Katherine Dore', Isaac Dore', Samantha Dore', LaRhonda Bordelon, Danny Bordelon and Tara Oliver; her godchildren Nolan Dore', Rosie Mendoza, Carlos Ochoa, Kasey Deville and Amanda Richard; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Sandra was preceded in death by her mother Florence Soileau; her father Joseh Russell Dore'; her mother-in-law Elvina Zuniga; her sister Cynthia Soileau; her grandmother Lozina Soileau; and her nieces Selena Oliver, Addison Guidry, and Addilynn Guidry.
In keeping with Sandra's wishes, a memorial service celebrating her life will be held at a later date.
