

She was born on July 7th, 1925, in Bothwellhaugh, Scotland. She was brought to this country at a very young age by her parents, James and Jane Semple, and two older siblings. They eventually settled in New Rochelle, New York.
After high school, Marion worked as an operator for the New York Telephone Company, and in 1946, following his return from WWII, married William Gill, her husband of 55 years, until his passing in 2001. During those years she raised three children of her own, and offered her home as temporary fosterage for 82 infants over a span of 15 years. More recently, she had worked as a bakery clerk in the St. Pete Beach Publix, in Dolphin Village, for 22 years, retiring at age 88.
She's survived by her children: William (Maureen) of Hopewell Junction, NY; Nancy (Joseph Salvatore), of St. Petersburg, Fl; and Judith Cawley (the late Frank), of South Pasadena, FL. Also two granddaughters, Amber Hunt (JT) of Martha's Vineyard, MA, and Megan Cawley (Troy Bowden) of St Petersburg, FL, and great-grandchildren Jack Danhousen and Claire and Daphne Hunt.
