October 28, 1947 in Duluth, Minnesota to Daniel and Jane Riesland. He was a graduate of Duluth East High School in 1966 and went on to University of Minnesota. After college he started his career at Honeywell, then eventually worked at Gelco, Northrup King and eventually Microsoft. He also spent a few years working in Germany which he really enjoyed. He retired from Microsoft in 2016.
Nick led an amazing life. He was a person that lived large and loved deeply. He was a person who brought happiness and good will to anyone he encountered. He was kind beyond limits and always listened and made everyone feel special and important. He always saw the goodness in people. He was giving beyond measure. Nick was a person that changed people's lives. He was a kind, generous, humble soul that never said bad things about anybody.
Nick had many hobbies. He loved computers and built every one he ever owned. He loved building robots. He taught himself to play the piano after he retired and loved classical music. He loved boating and being on the ocean. He found peace being on the water. He loved the NFL and especially his beloved Minnesota Vikings. He loved to cook, especially his famous pizzas. He always had a soft spot in his heart for all animals, but especially dogs. He was drawn to dogs and they were drawn to him. He also loved his RVs and traveled all over with them many times spending summer time with his brother and family in New Hampshire. Nick's smile lit up a room. He will be deeply missed by all.
Sadly he leaves behind brothers Dan Riesland and wife Phyllis of Spring Hill, FL, Stephen Riesland and wife Debbie of Pelham, NH, Paul Riesland of Hudson, FL, David Riesland of Duluth, MN, and Bob Riesland and wife Linda of Duluth, MN. Sisters Barbara LaLiberte of Superior, WI, Sally Sundeen and husband Garth of Duluth MN. He had many nieces and nephews. Terry Riesland of Prior Lake, MN, Shane Riesland and wife Marie of Duluth, MN, Chad Riesland and wife Stephanie of Duluth, MN, Gina Luna and husband Jose of Duluth, MN, Heather Cheetham of Pelham, NH, Kaitlin Riesland Demarco and husband Tony of Hudson, NH, Adam Riesland of Duluth, MN , Brent Philipich of Stillwater, MN , Erick Sundeen and wife Missy of Duluth, MN, Stephen Sundeen and wife Kim from Madison, WI, Cory Sundeen of Cloquet, MN, Alyssa Rolph of River Falls, WI. He leaves behind his very special, close, best friends that he considered his family Russell and Pat Ricalde and daughters Zoe and Sky that he was like a grandfather to.

A celebration of life for Nicholas will be held Tuesday, September 26, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Beach Memorial Chapel, 301 Corey Avenue, St. Pete Beach, Florida 33706.
