Clifford John Brooks, 69 of Stafford, Texas, passed away March 5th, 2019 in Clay County, Texas. Cliff was born November 1st, 1949 to Thomas Edward Brooks and Mae Targgart Brooks in Valparaiso, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents. Cliff is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lynda Brooks, son Cory Brooks and his wife Stacey, his sister Carol Harmon and her husband Bob of Lenoir, North Carolina, and his brother Craig Brooks and his wife Sue of Lexington, South Carolina; his nieces and nephews Dawn and husband John, Debra and husband Daniel, Sherrie and husband Dan (deceased), Michael and wife Maria, Tom and wife Kelly, Jennifer and husband Mike, and Justin and wife Heather; his great nieces and nephews Kaitlyn, Kyle, Gavin, Katlin, Kyle, Alec, Lauren, Wyatt, Samuel, and Ellie; and great-great nieces and nephews.
Cliff served in the Army as a Communications Security Specialist, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Expedition Medal, and Expert Badge (Rifle M-16). Upon his discharge he went to school for Field Service Technician and, upon completion, went to work for Texas Instruments. He was in the seismic industry for 30 plus years and at Geospace Technologies for the past 20 years. He traveled the world as a technician and in sales, meeting numerous seismic friends and associates, where he was known for his quick wit and gentle nature.
Cliff loved all kinds of music and books, especially golf books, socializing with friends and family, playing softball (in his younger years), cheering for numerous Houston sports teams, and golf. Golf was his passion. He was a board member and past president of the Houston Amateur Golf Association for 25+ years and played at least once a week. He always said, "It never rains on the golf course and any day on any course is a great day."
