

Jonathan Emmett Peden, a member and supporter of Oak Lake Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars passed away on Wednesday afternoon at 3:33 p.m. on August 2, 2023, at Methodist Hospital in Sugar Land, Texas. He was 76 and would be 77 on this upcoming November 2, 2023.
Mr. Peden was the son of the late Ms. Datha B. Peden. He was born on November 2, 1946, in Phoenix, Arizona where he lived there until, he was four years old. He then moved to Detroit, Michigan where he grew up until, he was nine, and then moved to Houston, Texas where he has lived ever since. He attended Lamar High School, but dropped out and Enlisted into the Navy, where he spent four years in the Vietnam War, and two extra years in the reserves. When he was discharged, he came back to Houston where he received his GED and attended Lee College for a two-year degree in Millwright Technology. Jon worked, as a Millwright for over forty years, two of those years was an electrical apprentice as well. In his younger years he coached softball and was on a BBQ cook off team where he enjoyed smoking briskets and other meats. His hobbies were camping, fishing/crabbing, and enjoying the beach. He loved being able to relax in Galveston and Palacios at their second places listening to oldies and classic rock music.
Jonathan Peden lives on in his wife, Karen Cis Peden; two sons, Scott Peden and his wife Kimberli Peden and Jason Peden. His grandchildren, Savannah, Makayla Peden, Tristen Burris, Preston, Kensli, Kaci, and Kloi Jones and great great-grandchildren, Kimberli Grace Vaughn and Weston Cane Vaughn and another on the way.
The family would like to thank Oak Lake Church for the support and help as well as the VFW in helping with his medical disabilities throughout the years.
In lieu of flowers and memorial contributions, the family ask that any memorial contributions made to Disabled Veterans of American and/or Wounded Warriors.
