Joseph “Steve” Hemenez was born on January 1, 1938, in Rio Claro, Trinidad and Tobago, to Fabien Williams and Maria Hemenez. A beloved father, grandfather, sibling, and friend, he peacefully departed this earthly life on February 1, 2025, at the age of 87, in his home in Houston, Texas.
Steve’s journey took him from Trinidad to the Virgin Islands in the 1970s before he ultimately settled in the United States, where he built a life filled with love, joy, and creativity. A talented Caribbean entertainer and painter, he shared his gifts generously, captivating family and friends with his humor, jokes, and infectious smile. Even after retiring, he remained a source of light, always brightening any room with his warmth and laughter. You wouldn’t dare catch him without his hat and a smile! Though our hearts ache in his absence, we find comfort in the love he shared, knowing that love lives on. We carry Steve with us today, tomorrow, and always.

A Message of Hope
"Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord's word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words."
— 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
Joseph’s memory will forever be a blessing to all who knew and loved him. His spirit of joy, music, and dance will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
May he rest in eternal peace.
