KESS MARIE REDBURN, went to be with the Lord and her family on Friday, December 16, 2011. She was born on August 8, 1923, in Kerrville, Texas. She attended St. Anthony's Elementary School, St. Mary's High School, and Our Lady of the Lake College, all in San Antonio, and also a college in Minnesota. Not really a scholar, though, she would brag about a summer class she took at UT where she didn't learn a single thing. Kess was trained as a lab technician and worked at Brooks General Hospital and Herman Hospital along with other places. She enjoyed this kind of work because she just sat quietly in the lab performing her tests. In her youth, Kess was attractive, had a good personality, and was blessed with an unusually beautiful singing voice that people said sounded like a flute. After she lost the ability to talk two years ago, she still gave people a wonderful smile. Kess will be remembered by those who loved her for her cute personality, hardworking nature, creativity, and devotion to her children. She will be greatly missed. Kess was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin Jerome and Eleanor Kessler Fritz; her husband of twenty-three years, Robert Redburn; son, James (Teddy) Redburn; sister, Anna Rose Dornwell, and brother, Jerome Fritz. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Yoder; grandson, Jimmy Redburn; great-grandson, Brendan Redburn; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Sugar Land, with a Rosary to be recited just prior to the service, at 10:30 AM.
