Linda Denise Weathersby, beloved daughter and sister, passed away on April 21st in Sugarland, TX at 49 years old. She was born at Ft. Hood, TX and lived a life of joy as displayed by her love for God, her family, and her friends. She chose to live life to the fullest and took advantage of every opportunity to celebrate, and be with, the people she loved. She inspired and challenged us all to do more and do better. There are no words to express how much she will be missed.
As the youngest of three children in a military family, she had the opportunity to live in several different cities across the country. In 1979, Linda moved with her family to San Antonio when her father retired from the Army. She graduated from Judson High School in Converse, TX where she was active in the Air Force ROTC and marching band. Linda graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Social Work and went on to earn her Masters Degree in Public Administration from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, TX.
Faith was an important part of Linda’s life. When she relocated to Houston, she joined Lakewood Church. Linda was baptized in 2008 and continued to attend as a member until her death.
Linda’s passions included international travel, sports, and cooking. Linda’s traveling adventures included trips to Ireland, Vietnam, Morocco, China, Spain, Germany and Peru. As an avid sports fan, Linda faithfully supported the Texas Longhorns, San Antonio Spurs, Houston Astros and Texans. Beyond team sports, Linda was passionate about professional tennis. In 2007, Linda challenged herself to complete the full Houston Marathon. After meeting that goal, she continued on to complete twenty (20) half-marathons in Houston, Las Vegas, and Brooklyn, among others cities. Cooking was one of the many ways that Linda showed her friends and family how much she loved them. She was known to try out new recipes in order to make birthdays and holidays special for loved ones and friends by baking their favorite cakes or pies.
Linda’s strong work ethic started early as she supported herself through college with various jobs. After graduating from college, Linda embarked on her professional career with sales and marketing roles at Nike and Quaker Oats. In 2003, she joined Coca-Cola and recently advanced to Account Executive. She valued the strong relationships developed with her colleagues.
In addition to her professional life, Linda was committed to serving others and her community. She volunteered her time supporting several organizations, often rallying her friends to assist. This included mentoring high school students, participating in Junior League community service events, and the Texas Network of Executive Women.
Everyone who knew Linda understood how important her beloved dogs, Cisco and Buddy, were to her. She was a proud pet parent who simply adored them as they did her.
Linda leaves to cherish fond memories: her parents, L.C. and Ann Weathersby; brother, George Weathersby; and sister, Lisa Weathersby, as well as an extended family of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, God-children, and a large group of amazing friends.
